AREVA NP Canada Ltd. is posting this opportunity to attract viable candidates for a Piping Stress Analyst need for our Pickering, Ontario Canada location. Candidates will initially be considered for a specific project with varied work hours. Candidates will need to be open to the option of initially being hired as a contractor with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent AREVA employee dependent on this project and other future work demands.

The qualified individual for this role will support the Engineering, Mechanical and Civil Design group. Primary responsibilities will include:
* Piping stress analysis using Autopipe software for Nuclear Class 1, 2, 3 and 6 pipings.
* Familiarity with OPG (Ontario Power Generation) and/or Bruce Power design and ECC (engineering change control) process. Qualified per ASME (American Society Mechanical Engineers) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Appendix XXIII to certify piping stress reports and piping drawings.
* Preparation of design specifications, load and capacity data sheets and stress calculations.
* Preparation of DCN (design change notice) packages and associated documents such as DBOMs (design bill of materials), change paper drawings, pipe supports design to ASME code Subsection NF, etc.
* Occasional visits to nuclear sites for walk downs and meetings. Must be able to obtain security clearance.
Additional Responsibilities May Include:
* Performing a variety of complex engineering assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks and resolution of field problems.
* Ensuring compliance with government, organization and customer engineering standards.
* Independently evaluating, selecting and applying a variety of technical techniques, processes, and criteria using judgment in making more complex adaptations and modifications.
* Developing new or adapted products, methods, systems or models to provide added value solutions to customer.
* Researching and assessing best practices, proposing methods and improvements.
* Working on special projects, as directed.
* Performing other related duties and tasks, as required.
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this Engineer III opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
* BS in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology plus 5 years of engineering / piping design experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related experience (MS 1-2 yrs. or PhD 1-3 yrs).
* Must have a minimum of two years nuclear power plant experience. This type of experience is normally acquired by either working directly for the nuclear power plants, design agencies for nuclear power plants, or suppliers/contractors to nuclear power plants.
* Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario, or a province of Canada.
* Familiar with Nuclear Power Industry ECC and Change Paper processes.
* Knowledgeable in Autopipe software.
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
* Advanced knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques and criteria (i.e. 10 years of related Nuclear Power Plant engineering / piping design experience).
* ASME Appendix XXIII qualification for piping design and analysis.
* Nuclear power plant experience.
* Security Clearance to work in nuclear power plants.
* Experience with StandPipe software.
* Good communication skills including the ability to comprehend and convey detailed technical data.
* Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships.
* Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
