Plant Controls Engineer
The Plant Controls Engineer is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining stable and capable production/business processes as they pertain to equipment functionality following the WCM (world class manufacturing) model. The controls engineer is required to maintain both machine/equipment and facilities capabilities and reliability as they relate as they to safety, throughput, quality, equipment integrity, and for monitoring/correcting related issues of assembly, machining and high pressure die casting. Plan, test and coordinate the implementation of preventive actions in production lines in order to establish and verify capable/stable and reliable production in terms of safety, quality, delivery and cost. Work with maintenance supervisors, business unit leaders or engineering group leaders to evaluate, implement and obtain approval for program changes. Work with IT group to modify and /or update machine/assembly PLC programs and communication programs as they relate to plant network. Investigate and resolve issues associated with machining and facilities equipment, assembly automation, work stations, robotics and automated equipment. Troubleshoot PLC controls, electrical components, servo-drives, motors, wiring - cables in cable trays and panels. Review and make program changes on Siemens, Fanuc, Rockwell, ABB and a variety of other control systems, capture and document changes. Update . Lead, coordinate and facilitate trouble shooting electrical issues, problem resolution issues as they relate to equipment downtime, throughput improvement, or any safety concern - interlocks, switches. Provide assistance to troubleshooter and make improvements on all electrical facilities and equipment using input from production, maintenance supervisors, business unit leaders, engineering group leaders, tradesmen, operators, vendors/service providers. Establish, maintain, update and administer electrical control plans. Participate in all aspects of simultaneous engineering efforts to improve current processes and new projects. Monitor and improve performance of production processes with respect to cycle time, . Generate, prepare and present regular reports to both internal and external stakeholders. Work with and support all plant operations in WCM initiatives utilizing WCM tools for continuous improvement efforts, including kaizen and other quality improvements aids.
Basic Requirements: • BSEE or equivalent controls experience
• Strong computer skills must be proficient in MS-office
• Possess strong problem solving skills (SPC,DOE,kaizen,and root cause analysis)
• Knowledge and experience with automated production equipment
• Proven programming experience with Allen Bradley, ControlLogix 5000, RS logic 5, RS logic 500, Siemens, and
• panel view software
• Experience with both Fanuc and ABB robot programming and hardware
• WCM audit experience is a plus
• English language competency required with good written and verbal communication skills
• Must have ability to read, understand and troubleshoot electrode-hydraulic/pneumatic controls
• Must be self directed and be willing to work any shift
Preferred Requirements: • CMRP certified
• Candidate shall have 2 or more years manufacturing experience in automotive assembly machining/die casting etc
