Position Description Defines, designs and implements network communications and solutions. Proposes and implements system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. Manages the load configuration of a central data communication processor and makes recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks. Coordinates terminal orders and cable installation, network system planning, upgrading, monitoring, testing and servicing. Approves action requests and specifies purchase requirements. Negotiates and places orders with common carriers. Analyzes, acquires, installs, modifies and supports operating systems, databases, utilities and Internet/intranet-related tools. Conducts systems programming and systems support activities, such as new or revised program language codes, processing routines and report generators. Monitors effective language codes, processing routines, hardware use and use of database management techniques. Modifies, maintains and updates software. Develops and reviews operator and control instructions. Prepares and conducts system and programming tests requiring interfacing of hardware and software. Conducts programming tasks including program design, program coding, debugging and documentation. As directed, prepares feasibility studies and designs tests to determine operating characteristics of elops, analyzes and maintains tools that support and automate processes for hardware or software product release. Writes installation scripts and programs for installation of products. Works with project teams to determine an appropriate build schedule and then initiates the build and packaging process. Compiles and assembles software from source code. Ensures tools are stored in source control. Supports developers for software package registry and delivery. Works with others to complete analysis, evaluations and design alternatives and to implement process improvements. Works with development engineers to correct build errors. Position Requirements Unix/Linux System Administrator/Engineer with 4-6 Years of IT experience in field of Unix administration and operations support. Unix Administration on Linux/ Solaris/HPUX/AIX. Knowledge of basics Unix concepts, file systems, permissions, ACLs, kernel configuration. Exposure to managing servers remotely using DRAC, ILOM, KVM, ALOM, HMC consoles. Exporsure to Clusters (HACMP) Extensive knowledge of standard Unix services like SSH, FTP, NFS, NIS, LDAP, DNS, Samba, Sudo. User, Group and File System management skills. Basic troubleshooting skills for web tier, Apache, tomcat. Excellent communication skills, written and oral, are essential. Some scripting skills, Shell/Perl are desired. To able to perform in 24 x 7 Environment in shift roster. Responsible for day to day operational delivery as per set procedures Work with Change & Incident Management Tools. Position Attributes
