Position Description
Medtronic-Diabetes has a commercial portal that is designed to generate revenue and promote self-service for customers, patients, physicians and educators. The senior developer will work as part of J2EE team to significantly enhance the functionality of the portal by developing self-service applications. In addition, the eBusiness Team is involved in process automation and uses off-the-shelf software writes custom applications in Java and Microsoft technologies. We are looking for a seasoned developer who is proficient in Java/J2EE and has worked in enterprise commercial systems.
Position Responsibilities
Will lead, design, code, test, document, and deploy web-based applications and technologies. Will function as the principal developer and provide guidance to other developers. May receive baseline guidance from web architect management, but will be a hands-on developer and write code, create technical design documents and develop appropriate test scripts. Will significantly participate and contribute to architecture design sessions. This programmer shall be part of a web development team that designs and implements database-driven Web and e-Commerce solutions for web-enabled devices. This experienced technical developer will handle all aspects of developing J2EE components and participate in debugging code. Responsible for the following, quality and delivery of advanced, integrated and diverse technical products, in schedule, within prescribed resource limits, and in accordance with client requirements and departmental standards. The incumbent will provide expert technical in programming but also be a primary backup in system administration or Oracle data base.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree required. 8 yrs directly applicable development experience.
Must have information systems (IS) skill set mastery: programming java, applications knowledge, system development methodology (SDLC), application infrastructure, and quality management.
Must possess extensive knowledge of current and new Web technologies. Experience in developing n-Tier programs. J2EE, object oriented analysis, object oriented data modeling, and programming. Scripting languages (JavaScript, PERL) and LDAP, SQL, XML, DHTML.
Excellent interpersonal skills, oral communication and in writing.
Must be team player and have experience leading a team
Ability and willingness to learn new technologies.
Required: WebLogic, Oracle, Sun Solaris, SiteMinder (Identity Management) and familiarity with SAP
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Microsoft technologies and or willingness to learn strongly preferred Bachelor's degree preferred in computer science or engineering. Minimum 5 years experience with designing programming web or client-server solutions. Desirable multiple operating systems, computing platforms, networks, databases, and application systems. IS Skill Sets Mastery: eBusiness, Web Solutions, Project Management, Emerging Technologies, Enterprise Systems; general knowledge: of each layer of OSI Model; of major platforms (i.e. J2EE and .Net); of n-tier and distributed architectures; and of SDLC and control processes. Desirable: WebMethods, Struts, AJAX, .NET Framework
