Description
Position Description
This role will provide Business Intelligence (BI) leadership and direction for Pyramis Systems. As part of the Data Services development team the Principal Developer will receive and clarify analysis and reporting requirements from business users, and develop and deliver reporting and analytic solutions. The BI Developer must quickly understand the business issues and data challenges of the organization in order to review requirements, specifications, business processes and recommend solutions. The team provides full development lifecycle services for data warehouse and integration solutions leveraging the Agile development methodology.
Primary Responsibilities
* Develop analytics and reporting solutions; Reports required are both ad-hoc, standardized and interactive dashboards.
* Define and advocate data delivery architecture and standards.
* Communicate directly with various levels of the organization, including senior management, to identify and document business intelligence needs
* Work closely with Data Warehouse Architect, business analyst and BI developers to understand requirements
* Develop data access use cases and patterns based on business requirements
* Collaborate in the creation and enhancement of data structures (Data Marts, Cubes) to facilitate decision making
* Advocate standardized reporting implementation across a variety of contexts
* Advocate standard naming conventions and adherence to enterprise canonical modeling data terms and definitions
* Validate that the reporting and BI analytics meet business and technical specifications, ensure that any issues raised during testing are addressed prior to migration into production
* Educate business users on principles of business intelligence metrics and data governance
* Development and execution of reporting and BI test plans
* Facilitate BI deployments and Releases
Qualifications
Education and Experience
* 5-7 years of experience in Business Intelligence and reporting solutions development
* Experience managing customer expectations and mentoring teammates
* Experience with complex decision support systems within Financial Services is a plus
Skills and Knowledge
* Expert knowledge of Business Intelligence Development processes and tools including OBIEE, Oracle OLAP and ESSBase
* Very strong technical skills coupled with business intelligence and a deep understanding of customer's needs so that they can be transformed into BI designs
* Understanding of data acquisition and transformation (ETL) design and processes
* Understanding of dimensional modeling for Data Warehouse, Datamarts, Cubes
* Ability to express complex business concepts in technical terms
* Solid knowledge of IT software development life cycle methodologies and processes
* Strong problem resolution skills, testing and debugging skills
* Exhibit confidence and an extensive knowledge of emerging industry practices when solving business intelligence challenges
* Strong written and verbal communication skills in technical settings and with senior management
* The candidate should be comfortable working with business users, developers, and data architects.
* Strong analysis background is desired for this position which includes research, business analysis, and report writing.
