Description
Within Pyramis systems the Principal Data Analyst will provide data analysis leadership and direction on data initiatives. As part of the Data Services development team the Data Analyst will gather business requirements and assist in defining IT solutions for business needs. The team provides full development lifecycle services for data warehouse and integration solutions leveraging the Agile development methodology. The role will entail creating functional specification documents and high-level solution outlines for business intelligence and data analytic applications. The analyst will quickly understand the business issues and data challenges of the organization in order to review requirements, specifications, business processes and recommend solutions.
Primary Responsibilities
* Understand business process and requirements and translate them to specific software requirements
* Define and document the scope and functional requirements for application data and reporting needs
* Assist in the facilitation of team and business meetings
* Develop testing and other quality assurance procedures
* Make recommendations for business analytics, reporting and data warehouse environment
* Develop standards and processes related to data cleansing, data quality and data integration
* Develop data warehouse documentation and standard procedures, including data flow diagrams to demonstrate source, transformation and target
* Assist in the definition and oversight of data warehouse operational procedures
* Capture data definitions and use case patterns
* Promote collaboration and work across the organization to identify opportunities for strategic data initiatives
Qualifications
Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree
* Minimum 5 years of career experience with a successful track record participating in data warehousing and data integration solutions
* Experience with one or more data profiling tools
Skills and Knowledge
* Ability to analyze data for the most difficult design situations involving requirements for differing types of applications (e.g. OLTP vs. Data Warehouse) and reporting tools
* Ability to understand the technical designs as well as the specifications
* Ability to translate moderately complex logical data models into SQL
* Very strong technical skills coupled with business intelligence and a deep understanding of customer's needs so that they can be transformed into application and operational requirements
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills
* Strong SQL skills
* Possesses understanding in the areas of data integration, database and ETL design
* Continually seeks opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex business concepts in technical terms
