Description
The Principal ETL Architect will provide data integration leadership and direction for Pyramis Systems defining ETL (extract, transformation and load) architecture and standards. As part of the Data Services development team the ETL Architect must quickly understand the business issues and data challenges of the organization in order to review requirements, specifications, business processes and recommend solutions. The team provides full development lifecycle services for data warehouse and integration solutions leveraging the Agile development methodology.
Primary Responsibilities
* Utilize Informatica PowerCenter to develop ETL load routines
* Create design pattern templates for re-usable objects
* Work closely with Data Warehouse Architect, business analyst and BI developers to understand requirements and develop appropriate solutions that are right-sized and scalable
* Scope, plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks and projects
* Establish standards for new use case patterns and templates as appropriate
* Define and implement ETL development standards and procedures
* Work closely with platform administrator to define and implement ETL tool configuration
* Ensure ETL quality through inspections and knowledge sharing
* Ensure data quality through creation of audit controls, proactive monitoring and data cleansing techniques
* Development and execution of ETL unit test plan
* Facilitate ETL Deployments and Releases
* Validate that the ETL processes meet business and technical specifications, ensure that any issues raised during testing are addressed prior to migration into production and manage ongoing maintenance of the system and data
Qualifications
Education and Experience
* 7+ years of ETL implementations
* 5+ years experience with Informatica PowerCenter
* Extensive experience designing, documenting and tuning ETL
* Experience in real time or near real time data warehousing preferred
Skills and Knowledge
* Very strong technical skills coupled with business intelligence and a deep understanding of customer's needs so that they can be transformed into ETL designs
* Strong experience with business intelligence and data warehousing design principles and industry best practices
* Ability to understand business requirements and conduct source system analysis to arrive at optimal designs
* Understanding data modeling (i.e. conceptual, logical and physical model design, experience with Operation Data Stores, Enterprise Data warehouses and Data Marts)
* Extensive experience using Oracle, MS SQL Server, SQL: Understand SQL Procedures, functions, triggers, SQL, etc. programming
* Expert knowledge of relational and dimensional database design concepts
* Strong problem resolution skills
* Strong testing and debugging skills
* Ability to mentor and or monitor junior and contract developers
* Exhibit confidence and an extensive knowledge of emerging industry practices when solving business intelligence challenges
* Facilitate effective team interaction
* Continually seeks opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex business concepts in technical terms
* Ability to prioritize and multi-task across numerous work streams
