Fidelity Investment's XTRAC group provides Business Process Management solutions to the Communications and Financial Services markets. XTRAC is seeking a Principal Oracle Database Administrator for our Salt Lake City office. The selected candidate is a seasoned database architect who understands database and application architecture, with hands-on Oracle DBMS experience. S/he has full-lifecycle experience, including liaison activities with customer organizations. S/he is able to work in a matrix environment with teammates and peers in both remote onshore and offshore Locations:. S/he is capable of defining and accomplishing major projects across all Fidelity Business Units, participating in how data is defined, collected, used, and leveraged as an asset throughout the Enterprise, must be able to implement tactical solutions while focusing on strategic enterprise-wide initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities
* Perform hands on technical DBA work including requirements gathering, data/database/ETL architecture analysis/design as part of database administration.
* Ability to identify and resolve database architecture issues that might impact ability to meet requirements. Define database standards to support multiple RDBMS on various operating systems.
* Ability to design and engineer high volume, business critical, high availability OLTP and OLAP applications based on Oracle technology.
* Have a deep understanding of technical database and development work, the impact of logical design decisions on the technical database and application infrastructures.
* Ability to train and mentor junior team members as well as work across all business units within Fidelity.
* Development background is required. The successful candidate will have experience working as a database expert in development projects, particularly projects using Websphere, Java, and J2EE.
* Must be willing to do all levels of work when required in addition to high level, customer facing work. This includes taking on-call support rotation.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
* BS Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
* 8+ yrs of relevant experience
Skills and Knowledge
* 8+ years of broad DBMS experience with Oracle. These skills include, but are not limited to PL/SQL and performance tuning. Platform experience of Solaris and/or AIX is required. Other DBMS's including mainframe and Open Source are a plus.
* Maintain a high degree of expertise in the use of the tools and methodologies of data analysis, database administration, and PL/SQL development and performance analysis and tuning; as well as providing assistance and training in the use of these tools and methodologies.
* Provide leadership in the areas real-time reporting architecture and design.
* Must demonstrate the ability to discuss and direct strategic data and business planning issues with executive level clients and customers in order to prepare recommendations concerning effective use of the corporation's valuable information assets.
* Ability to communicate at a business function level with technology personnel in both verbal and written communication.
* Must maintain a high degree of expertise in the use of the tools and methodologies of data analysis, particularly repository and data modeling; as well as providing technical direction, assistance and training in the use of these tools and methodologies.
* Must show strong technical background of database architecture, as well as make recommendations to customers following the corporations' best practice.
* Strong presentation, analytical, diagnostic and creative problem solving skills, unafraid to take calculated risks.
