Principal-Product Development Engineer

The Principal Product Manager is responsible for the management of select digital content products which contribute to the overall success of the AT&T Mobility and AT&T U-verse data initiatives. These products are very visible and drive key revenue goals for 2012 and beyond. This position will have the primary responsibility of leading and managing development of premium applications, platforms and APIs through the product development processes from conception to launch. Further, responsibility for providing and defining on-going support throughout the products’ lifecycle will also be a large part of the role. Key leadership activities include but not limited to leading development and validation of product requirements, service architectures, and development plans and roadmaps.

In this role, you will need to think quickly, make decisions and carry through on them. The environment will change quickly around you and an ability to respond rapidly to new information is vital. You will also need to be able to work independently with little to no guidance. This position is for someone comfortable with being accountable and proactive in their approach to work.

Product Realization is a relatively small and fast moving group within AT&T. We provide support to a significant portion of AT&T’s data business and this role will play a key part of those support goals.

Responsibilities include:

KNOWLEDGE Has extensive specialized technical expertise. Applies expert knowledge and broad understanding of multiple disciplines. Integrates expert knowledge of technical principles/methods of multiple disciplines with knowledge of products/services and internal operations. Advisor on AT&T technologies/systems/procedures.

ANALYSIS/PROBLEM SOLVING Solves complex, critical problems related to significant and unique issues. Uses extensive research and interpretative thinking. Utilizes innovative methods in developing solutions. Works on abstract problems requiring evaluation of intangible variables.

INDEPENDENCE Guided by functional goals/objectives. May influence organization goals/objectives. Applies discretion to develop innovative solutions to problems without precedent.

CONTRIBUTION TO AT&T TECHNOLOGY Lead contributor on critical projects/technology initiatives. Develops enterprise-wide integrated solutions. Contributes to complex and innovative business solutions to achieve strategic objectives.

COMMUNICATION Provides technical expertise to peers across the company. Actively promotes good working relationships. Develops mutually beneficial strategic alliances with customers.

Education:

Bachelors of Science degree in the field of Engineering, Math or Science preferred.

Experience:

· End to end experience with bringing a mobile application from inception to full production launch

· Strong understanding of wireless network infrastructure and how data traffic is handled.

· Experience and understanding of the various wireless devices currently available

· Experience with AT&T U-verse product offerings or equivalent TV over IP experience

· Typically has 8-10 years of relevant experience.

· Experience in the field of mobile applications for iOS, Android and Windows.

· Ability to manage a large budget as well as experience having managed a project to budget.

· Experience with software application development processes

· Experience with formal testing or Quality Engineering work

· Experience with managing the work or output from an external vendor including associated contractual, budget and resource responsibilities.

· Outstanding written and oral communication skills.

· Ability to organize and motivate large cross-functional teams

· Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.

· Prior people management experience.

· Must have proven success in developing and delivering presentations, including experience with PowerPoint.
