Product Engineer (Sports Marketing/Retail)

SUMMARY:

In this position you will be a key part of our team working with designers, product managers, test labs and factories. Good verbal and written communication skills are very important working in our fast paced environment. You'll be responsible for engineering projects from concept thru production of our brand's frames and forks as well as components. You'll need to be able to successfully manage all aspects of a project in order to turn a concept into a production product. A successful candidate will relish new designs and concepts that make our brand's projects more relevant and useful for our customers.

Team collaboration with designers, product managers, developers, graphic designers, and marketing

Brainstorming new concepts and ideas for our products & work to gain insight for the needs of this city and urban category.

Attend trade shows for inspiration and to stay current with trends

International travel to our factories in Asia

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Product Engineering:

Take responsibility for new projects from concept thru production and all phases in between.

Create engineering briefs (requirements) for your new projects with your team members.

Create 3D models in pro/e of our new products. Work with our teams to iterate thru design reviews and manufacturability feedback to create.

Analysis as needed of new designs.

Responsible for 2D drawings of all parts and assemblies.

Create timelines for your projects and manage development of projects in order to meet these timelines.

Work closely with our factories to get all required tooling started.

Product Testing & Approval:

Get prototypes made and into testing phases (lab testing and field testing).

Create test plans for all products and be responsible for making sure all products are completely tested in our labs.

Iterate products thru design changes until all testing is passed in our labs. We don't expect products to pass the 1st time thru the lab but you've got to make sure the final product is 100% tested and approved.

Make sure all documentation is complete for your projects.

Production Readiness:

Work with factories, manufacturing & quality engineers to get your products ready for production.

Ensure tooling is correct and that tooling produces parts that meet our drawings.

Conduct pilot runs as needed with factories to prove out production readiness.

Responsible for success 1st production startup of your new products.

Engineering Team Continuous Improvement:

Work with engineering team to help improve processes and make our engineering team stronger.

Perform other duties as required.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

Ideal candidate has bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 1-2 years' experience. Outstanding recent University graduates will also be considered.

Experience with CAD software, Pro/e is our standard at our company. Ability to use surfacing features in pro/e is highly desirable.

Experience working with international cultures and vendors

Ability to work in a fast paced environment & complete tasks within product creation timelines.

Machine shop skills using lathe, mill, welder, ect.

Avid cyclist and bike mechanic
