Responsibilities
Under general supervision, performs analysis, design, development, testing, debugging and implementation of moderately complex software application programs in support of distinct product hardware or technical service lines of business.

Duties and Responsibilities

Defines specifications for moderately complex software programming applications and/or oversees the maintenance of existing programs to ensure continued performance and compliance with current guidelines and standards.

Performs all necessary aspects of the programming phase of software development including coding, testing, debugging and documenting using current guidelines and standards.

Defines architecture requirements and performance standards to meet customer specifications.

Participates in the analysis and development of test plans. Tests assigned components and units, provides test results and recommends corrections.

Identifies and directs resolution of moderately complex hardware/software interface issues or other technical problems.

Researches and develops prospective applications and products and maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies.

Authors or assists in the writing and/or presentation of briefings (reports on analyses, findings, and project progress), project or task plans, system specification manuals, technical reports and user manuals.

Participates in the preparation of technical proposals.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline plus 2 to 5 years of directly related experience.
In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 5 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Strong background in JAVA development is desired.
C and C++ development experience is a plus.
Related technical certifications may be required.
Two years of professional experience with development in a Linux/UNIX environment is desired.
Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to work in a team environment is required.
Military domain experience is a plus.
On-site support required. Interface with customers on a daily basis.
Shell scripting is a plus.
System interface development experience is a plus.

Security:
Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance.
