Responsibilities Position Summary Under general supervision, evaluates moderately complex applications software, specifically for the US Navy Standard Missile and shipboard launching systems. Analyzes and improves existing programs. Develops programming and documentation standards as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities Works with users to identify moderately complex problems, develops and documents requirements. Analyzes existing programs or formulates logic for new systems. Devises logic procedures, prepares flowcharting and detailed specifications. Assists in performing testing procedures on assigned products, analyzes test results, and corrects problems. Develops conversion and system implementation plans. Prepares and obtains approval of system and programming documentation such as user manuals, product specifications, and training materials. Recommends changes in development, maintenance and system standards. Prepares reports on analyses, findings, and project progress, and presents results to management and/or customer personnel. Performs research on emerging technologies to determine impact on application execution. Provides technical advice or consultation on programming applications. Qualifications Bachelors degree in related discipline and 0 to 2 years of directly related experience. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 7 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures used in computer programming. Proficiency in the use of one or more specific technologies may be required, depending on job assignment. Excellent interpersonal skills. A security clearance of an appropriate level may be required after employment.
