Job Overview: The Senior Business Analyst (Sr. BA) will be a key liaison with business users and technical teams and will be responsible for translating business requirements into technical requirements. The Sr. BA will act as a liaison among stakeholders in order to elicit, analyze, communicate and validate requirements for changes to business processes, policies and information systems. The Sr. BA understands business problems and opportunities in the context of the requirements and recommends solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals. The Sr. BA will help the business users understand their current systems processes and take ownership of their work. Responsibilities include: Be a quantitative leader in the Content organization, helping to inform new metrics which drive the business forward in ways that are consistent with key strategies. Support Operations, Finance, Accounting, and Marketing initiatives through analytic Cognos projects and providing strategic insights to the organization. Identify opportunities to use data to improve business performance. Provide technical and analytical advice to the Cognos developers. Deliver clear written and oral communication with analysts, IT and internal customer teams. Actively question and challenge customers to understand their requirements and design optimal solutions. Negotiate customer priorities and workload with many internal customers and team members. Interact with cross-functional teams to deliver projects within committed time frames. Understand how various issues affect each other, impacts to other departments and the expected outcome of projects. Improve upon existing approaches by seeking opportunities to creatively transform current practices into fresh alternative solutions. Conduct training sessions to ensure end users are prepared for system deployments Essential Experience and Knowledge: Ten years or more experience as a Business Analyst on large, multi-team projects dealing with multiple, complex process areas and business groups. Strong background in Cognos based applications including Connection, Report Studio, Event Studio, Metrics Studio, and Transformer. Experience in an iterative software development environment (Agile Methodology highly preferred). Prior experience in health and beauty or consumer products industry a plus. Prior major consulting firm experience a plus. Prior international experience a plus. Must be experienced in both the IT and Business side of solution delivery. Familiarity with one or more of the following a plus: SQL queries (via Toad, PL/SQL Developer, iSQL or similar tool).
