Requirements: Qualifications * 10 - 15 years of current commercial property experience * 10 - 15 years proven business management skills and experience * Successful marketing, sales and underwriting experience in working directly with wholesale producers * Broad understanding of commercial property large and complex accounts including shared and layered programs, natural catastrophe peril underwriting, and portfolio management * Broad understanding of underwriting, claims management and actuarial analysis * Bachelor's degree * CPCU and other insurance designations preferred
Skills Required * Proven business skills & judgment * Ability to effectively manage an individual portfolio, * Proven experience in profitably underwriting larger and more complex property accounts * Experience in using Catastrophe Modeling and other analytical tools * Excellent verbal and written communication skills Primary Responsibilities * Manage an individual portfolio within the Large Open Market Property product line. * Work with Product Line Leader and other team members in establishing the overall strategy for the Large Open Market Property Product Line * Market and work to integrate the Large Open Market product line strategy with key wholesalers and specialist producers throughout North America * Manage client relationships within the Property Product Line, working closely with wholesale marketing and regional underwriting staff * Work as regional and product line resource providing referralsupport and expertise guidance to regional staff to assist in interpreting and implementing the Brokerage Property strategy and risk appetite. * Support cross-sell opportunities by proactively identifying client needs within the entire Property Product Line and passing those opportunities to other Product Line Leaders in North America * Maintain and execute pricing strategy for Large Open Market Property Product Line in order to meet loss the Product Line Capital Model objectives. * Help design and execute Large Open Market Property training for underwriters and support staff * Review and approve large submissions beyond current field authority levels * Help develop Large Open Market Property product specific underwriting policies and procedures and make changes within the product line as appropriate * Ensure the underwriting policies within the product line are aligned with broad Markel underwriting policies * Act as an advocate for property product line and communicate regularly with Brokerage Property Product Line Leader and Executive Underwriting Officer
