We're looking for energetic and enthusiastic engineers excited about mobile devices. In your role you will be responsible for developing and coding Hewlett Packard's Emerging Platform Group software platform. In this role you will work with other engineering teams to define and create the architecture and solution, and work cross functionally to realize the vision. You must thrive when involved with multiple issues at the same time, and take satisfaction in knocking down issues as they come up. This is a great place to get exposed to a wide range of technology. Work closely with the other hardware engineers and experience full product lifecycles from product definition all the way through shipping handheld products. Responsibilities In this role, you will be responsible for the following: Software design & development of drivers and OS/kernel components Software Build & Integration Troubleshoot run time issues and report findings Verify builds before delivery to test group, review and fix bugs filed by QA Work on Linux based platforms
Required education and overall experience: * This position will require embedded software experience using a commercial real time operating system. Experience in embedded software development and strong working knowledge of C and C is required. Java is optional but strongly desired. Must have hands on experience developing, integrating (with OS) and debugging device drivers - prior experience or focus in Wi-Fi/WAN, Audio, Display and Input device driver development is helpful Experience working in embedded OS such as Linux (Ubuntu, OpenSuse, RedHat/Fedora) or WinCE/Windows mobile. Comfortable developing in complex multi-threaded environments, down to the hardware interfaces Working knowledge of OpenMAX IL , OpenGLES, OpenVG or similar (Direct3D, DirectShow, OpenGL, SVG, Gstreamer) Familiar with Linux internals, device driver implementation and kernel development Comfortable integrating code from external sources and making it work Able to work collaboratively with team members in other locations, and share/collaborate on development projects * Additional skills - a plus: Experience with ARM or Intel x86/Atom family Experience with Java/J2ME application development and debugging
