More information about this job: Overview: Medical language specialist who interprets and edits reports produced by other Medical Transcription professionals. These reports include patient assessment, workup, therapeutic procedures, clinical course, diagnosis, prognosis, etc., in order to document patient care and facilitate delivery of healthcare services. COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS: Windows XP or Vista (must be a 32bit OS NO 64Bit OS will work), MS Word 2003, 2007, Word must be a Standard or Professional version, High Speed Internet (DSL or Cable ONLY -NO SATELLITE or WIRELESS), 1-2 Gigabyte of RAM Memory, 1 Ghz Processor (Pentium 3 and above), 4 GB of available disk space. Responsibilities: * Edit the transcribed document against actual dictation. * Edit documents consistently and fairly according to transcription guidelines, standards of style, and formats of practice. * Using preferred standard quality scoring guidelines, calculate and score reports consistently and fairly, weighing the varying degrees of errors against the documentation length. * Utilize all available reference tools to ensure the accuracy of the transcribed document. * Clearing deficient QC files: You will be responsible for clearing up blanks and/or doubts from the jobs available in the TL and QC pool on all accounts, as required. * Assessors for DSPs: You will need to work on assessing non-DSPs (direct submission privilege) to grant DSPs. You will need to document each and every error done by the non-DSPs, as this is one of the processes for obtaining DSP. This will require 100% audio review. * Evaluation: You will need to work on the evaluation process for granting DSP. You will need to audit using the correction report software 100% of the time. This will require 100% audio review. * Identify potential risk management situations. * Adhere to policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the transcription department. * Access patient's health information as needed for further clarification. * Transcribe reports as needed. * Provide timely and consistent quality feedback to inform and update the transcriptionists regarding quality issues and areas of concern to help eliminate repetition of errors. * Recognize, interpret, and evaluate inconsistencies, discrepancies, and inaccuracies in medical dictation and appropriately clarify and flag or report them, as needed. * Ideally the candidate should have undergone formal MT training. * The candidate should have a minimum experience of 3 years in the MT profession. * Prior experience in proofreading/editing/auditing is a must. The candidate should be willing to work exclusively in transcription/proofreading. * The candidate is expected to audit a minimum of 1250 lines in an 8-hour shift. The candidate should be able to apply account specifics to each individual account that is assigned. This will require focus and strict attention to detail.
Qualifications: * Must be available to work at least 20 hours per week/4 hours per day minimum for Part Time and up to 40 hours per week/8 hours per day full time to include one weekend day. * Knowledge of medical terminology, AAMT guidelines and procedures. * Ability to access appropriate reference materials. * Excellent listening skills and ability to understand diverse accents and dialects and varying dictation styles. * Ability to use excellent English grammar and spelling. * Ability to speak, read and write the English language fluently. * Computer skills, including MS Word and Windows required.
