TITLE: Embedded Controls Design Engineer DEPARTMENT: New Product Development
REPORTS TO: Manager - Research and Development
GENERAL SUMMARY: Responsible for the hardware design, fabrication, firmware development, and production qualification of embedded controls for industrial products.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLILITES
- Define and implement board level designs that will meet the specifications for new products that meet performance, cost, and quality, and industrial certification requirements.
* Develop, test, and debug board level firmware using contemporary tools and techniques.
* Board level designs include analog and digital I/O, board to board communication, AC/DC motor control, industrial network communication, and noise immunity.
- Ensure that projects are efficiently executed to achieve timely deliverables.
- Thoroughly document designs including schematics, board layout, BOM, and operation.
- Participate as an integral member of the R&D team approach in executing projects.
* Contribute technical skills to support new product development
- Work in all phrases of software/hardware development lifecycle.
- Occasional domestic or international travel.

- Permanent Resident or Authorized to work in US.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
* BS Electrical Engineering, MSEE a plus.
* Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills.
SPECIFIC COMPETANCIES REQUIRED
Working knowledge / experience (minimum 10 yrs.) with expertise in the following skills:
* Demonstrated experience with circuit design, PCB layout, prototype validation, and overall system integration.
* Experienced in design of variable speed industrial motor controllers.
* Logic design and application of CPLD and FPGA. Programming with VHDL and Verilog.
* Demonstrated experience in embedded development using C/C++, and assembly languages.
* Testing of designs for international EMC compliance.
* Design Failure Modes Effects Analysis [DFMEA], and design for Safety (SIL) are a plus.
