This is a permanent position.
Overview
Our client requires a Release Analyst. This position is intermediate and is typically held by individuals who have at least 3 years of relevant industry experience. The Release Analyst role is a mixture of hardware/software installation, software development, network support and systems support. The analyst will provide support to the release process by creating and maintaining the development, test and QA environments for the O&G Platform.
Role and Responsibilities
The analyst will assume responsibility for assigned software support projects including development of new processes and installation methods.
Detailed responsibilities include:
Installation, operation, and troubleshooting of computer systems and software
Setup and troubleshooting of computer networks
Setup and maintenance of VMWare environments for release QC and QA.
Operation of Source Control Management processes and tools
Script programming using Scripting tools such as Perl, VBScript, and tools such as InstallShield, PowerShell & WISE
Creating innovative ways to reduce the time to install and configure Oil & Gas Applications using IT industry standard deployment tools such as SCCM, SMS, CMS WSUS, InstallShield, WISE and PowerShell
Qualifications
Required Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline such as Math, Physics or Geosciences, with 3+ years related post-secondary experience in software/systems development and deployment, preferably in a mainstream IT role, or
A Technology Diploma with 5+ years' related post-secondary experience in software/systems development and deployment, preferably in a mainstream IT role
Analytical ability - recognize the factors and circumstances involved in a problem and break down/simplify the problem using clearly defined criteria
Innovation and creativity - show a willingness to understand innovative ideas and to apply new insights to existing situations
Knowledge of MS Windows Servers, Workstations and Utilities, and related operating systems
Knowledge of alternative operating systems, eg Linux, and their associated tools is a plus
Knowledge of Source Control Management systems
Knowledge of VMWare tools
Programming (C, C++, C#) and Script programming capability
Experience with IT deployments in a Windows Server and Client environment using tools such as SCCM, SMS, CMS WSUS, InstallShield, WISE and PowerShell
