SCA Electronic Technician I (UPX-29)Applicant with a shipboard Combat Identification systems technical background in maintaining and troubleshooting systems such as the AN/UPX-29, OE-120, or AN/UPX-36.
The selected candidate will apply standard practices and techniques in electronic, mechanical, or other technical disciplines in providing support for ongoing technical programs. This will consist of inspecting, testing, adjusting, and certifying basic assemblies and systems for compliance with specifications and quality assurance practices; repairing simple malfunctions by adjusting, calibrating, aligning, or modifying circuitry using hand and power tools; setting up standard tests apparatus and conducting operational tests; installing basic equipment field changes; initiating requisitions and replenishing parts, equipment, and material for a project; issuing complete or partial kits to meet delivery requirements of ongoing contracts; performing other related duties as assigned.
Assigned work shall include assisting technicians of all skill levels; performing technical integration, evaluation, and testing; working on projects involving Combat Identifications equipment including Mark XII and Mark XIIA; related technical duties. Will work closely with BAE Systems personnel, subcontractors, and onsite Government customers.
Applicant must be willing to travel 30% â?" 40% of the time to assist with shipboard/shore-based system installations and test events. Must exert frequent energy, such as climbing to go aloft for antenna maintenance and lifting/carrying heavy objects. Must work extended hours or weekends to support the installations and test events. Must work on-board ships to accomplish the assignments. Must work occasionally in disagreeable environmental conditions.
This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in the St. Mary's County Technology Corridor adjacent to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.
