UIT exists to provide a wide range of information technologyservices to York 'sfaculty, staff and students in support of the University's academic, researchand administrative goals.
In this excellent full-time job opportunity the Senior Application Analyst/Developerwill provide senior-level support for one or more of York 's Enterprise systems and will be primarily responsible for the integration between thePeopleSoft Financials and HCM systems and other applications. This includesidentifying and analyzing business requirements, translating requirements totechnical specifications, designing and developing solutions using appropriatedevelopment tools ensuring that the systems are available and functioningefficiently, troubleshooting production problems, providing technical supportto users, developing custom modules and systems, and modifying and upgradingsoftware. To be the UIT expert on the technical aspects of one or moreapplications and to be responsible for the final resolution of all technicalproblems related to those applications. In addition, the incumbent willresearch, recommend and participate in developing strategic direction andinitiatives for administrative applications within the department andcommunicate with client groups and coordinate technical design sessions toensure that client business needs are met. The incumbent provides leadershipand expertise in the performance of work driven by user business needs.
Knowledge:
Formal training in and/or advanced knowledge of PeopleTools, ApplicationEngine, PeopleCode, SQR, AWE and Ingegration Broker. Knowledge of reportingtools such as XML Publisher or Crystal Reports. Understand and utilize designanalysis tools, including data flow diagrams. An excellent understanding ofOracle and SQL. Knowledge of standard desktop applications such as Microsoft Wordand Excel.
Education:
University degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field.
Experience:
7-10 years related work experience in a programming role which includes someexperience in program analysis and business design, Experience in a clientserver environment as well as several years experience developing and/orsupport of several applications simultaneously; demonstrated skills in multipleprogramming languages, including Oracle PeopleSoft development tools, Java andPL/SQL; must be proficient using these tools with Oracle databases; thoroughunderstanding of relational database design in a customer relationshipmanagement environment involving detailed demographic/biographic and financialdata. Prefered experience in a Higher Education environment, with OraclePeopleSoft Financials or HCM would be an asset.
Skills:
Exceptional communication and writing skills in orderto communicate technical ideas both verbally and in writing to technical andnon- technical audiences, and to provide documentation of procedures. Excellentanalytic and problem solving skills in order to resolve problems with thesystems that are frequently unclear and complicated. Excellent interpersonalskills in working with clients to define business needs and resolve lity to work well with others and to provide leadership in team t be able to set priorities among competing demands and work under thepressure of high volume and unanticipated work loads. Good organizational andsupervisory skills; strong customer service orientation; effective motivationaland diplomatic skills appropriate to large and complex organizations;presentation and facilitative skills; proven ability to exercise good judgmentand initiative. Ability to work with ill-defined Client specifications toaccess clients requirements.
