Title: Senior Application Data Architect (5+ yrs) Skills: data architect, data modeler, sdlc, OLTP, data warehousing, data marts, Oracle, SQL Server, Erwin, Powerdesigner, Date: 8-25-2010 Description: LOCAL US CITIZENS OR GC PREFERRED Senior Application Data Architect The successful candidate will work in the analysis, design and development of enterprise-class software. The candidate will develop and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models and participate in functional requirements and design sessions. The candidate must be capable of understanding data strategy on an enterprise level, implement the department*s data architecture on a project level, and have the excellent communication skills necessary to successfully interact with business analysts, data architects, software architects, project managers, technical leads, software developers, and testers. This role is responsible for the technical implementation of the database, and will ensure the data is compliant with architecture. Specific responsibilities will include: üDevelopment and maintenance of conceptual, logical and physical data models. üWork with business analyst and subject matter experts to understand informational requirements. üInvestigate source systems to locate and understand existing subject areas . üAdhere to data architecture standards and strategies for designing solutions üDevelop data migration strategies. üDevelop impact analysis for database changes including software development change estimates. üCommunicate data requirements to the development team and other stakeholders Required Skills: B.S. in computer science or equivalent experience. The candidate must possess the following technical experience: *5+ years as a Data Architect or Data Modeler within IT project environments. *Full project life-cycle from requirements gathering to testing. *Understanding of database design techniques for OLTP, data warehouse, and data mart design. *Experience in data modeling and data architecture principles. *Experience in RDBMS technologies * Oracle and SQL Server. *Experience in using tools such as Erwin, PowerDesigner, or Qdesigner. *Understanding/experience in working within an iterative development environment. Desired Skills: *Bioinformatics experience in the medical or other life sciences industry. *Experience with Power Designer. *Experience working in an agile development process. *Experience with database refactoring and agile database techniques.
