Senior BI Developer
Title: Senior BI Developer Skills: Business objects, BI, pl/sql Date: 8-25-2010 Description: Develops, designs, maintains, tests, installs, and provides high-level support on BI solutions. Collaborates with architects, and developers within the Business Intelligence Data Warehouse (BI/DW) group to develop and support the company's business applications, as well as, provide technical expertise related to the assigned application(s). The candidate must be a Business Objects (BO) XI r2 universe designer, Xcelsius 4.5/2008 dashboard developer using QaaWS, and a Web Intelligence report developer. He or she must have at least 5 years of relevant experience. Business Objects 3.x experience would be a plus. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will be an experienced Discoverer 10g Administrator who has: Oracle Application and SQL knowledge; created and maintained custom End User Layers; and created reports for end users. He or She must have at least 3-5 years of specific 4i or 10g Administrator experience. Duties and Responsibilities: Under general direction, provide technical expertise in the development of BI functional and detail design specification. Code, test, and debug new software, as well as perform maintenance and enhancements to existing software. Produce deliverables related to assigned project(s). Assist in post-implementation support and system enhancements. Resolve customer software complaints and issues, as well as respond to suggested improvements, enhancements, and resolution. Assist in training less-experienced software development team members. Work with the technical team to identify, assess, and correct application issues. Possess a good understanding of multiple business applications, as well as experience in minicomputer or client/server environments including, but not limited to, the implementation and support of resource planning, sales automation, marketing, finance, and distribution systems. As applicable, may assist in the development/support of software user manuals/guides and test plans. Performs detail designs and development of BI systems components and interfaces, as well as database layer work of complex tasks and projects. Collaborates with team members to resolve complex issues to assure the successful delivery of IT solutions. Lead teams in testing and quality assurance. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements: Education: Four (4) year degree in Computer Science or closely related field with a good understanding of IT. Verbal and Written Communication Candidate must be an effective communicator with Business users, Technical teams, and external Vendors. Experience: 3 - 5 years in Data Warehousing Projects involving dashboard development. No less than 5 years of Business Objects Designer and Reporting experience. At least 3-5 years of Oracle Discoverer environment administration. Experience with working in an environment with extensive outsourcing to offshore vendors. Extensive experience as a liaison between business teams, technical teams, and vendors. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Business Intelligence / Data Warehouse technologies. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of CPM/BI/DW projects Exceptional data analysis skills. Advanced knowledge in BO Xir2 universe design to include, but not limited to, security, working with derived tables, universe linking, contexts, and aggregate navigations, etc. Advanced knowledge in report development, deployment, and scheduling (email, bursting, etc.) Advanced knowledge in Crystal Xcelsius 4.5/2008 and QaaWS to include, but not limited to, integration with BOE, best practices for performance, and deployment. Knowledge in writing UNIX based SQL scripts. Familiar with materialized views, PL/SQL stored procedures, triggers and functions Sound knowledge in BI analytics and reporting solutions via Oracle Discoverer Ability to provide training in the use of Oracle Discoverer 9i Admin Edition, standards and best practices. Extensive knowledge of the principles, concepts/theories, and best practices in Data Warehousing and BI. Ability to create effective Functional Requirements documentation Proven ability to effectively drive change in a highly matrixed and decentralized organizational environment Ability to create and perform effective System Test cases Ability to create effective Detailed Technical Design Architecture documentation.
