We are currently looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join our IT - Applications department in Skokie, IL.
This role reports to the IT Applications Manager.
JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Business Analyst (Sr. BA) is responsible for understanding the client business process and how that process is automated by the IT applications. He/she is responsible for translating business needs so that technical personnel are able to effectively automate the processes and meet the business requirements. The Sr. BA understands the business process and the technology and bridges the gap between the two groups.
The Sr. BA is responsible for participating on project teams to ensure that the business requirements are understood and met by the project team. Specific responsibilities may include: as-is business process flow documentation; to-be business process flow development and documentation; user requirement documentation; functional requirement documentation; effort estimation for project tasks; review and input of design alternatives; test planning and execution and training plan development and execution. The Sr. BA will support incident and problem resolution when business processes are impacted or involved. This includes development and documentation of known errors and their associated work arounds when necessary. This position will act as the change coordinator for changes in the business areas that he/she is responsible for by assisting the business area with change request documentation and business justification, evaluating level of effort, complexity and risk involved with proposed changes, and owning the change through development and rollout to production. Facilitating communication with project managers, developers and project sponsors and business stakeholders is also required.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process analysis, process re-engineering and business and functional requirement gathering
- Perform project management tasks as required by the project
- Incident and problem resolution working with business partners to thoroughly understand process
- Document system functionality and business processes and share with IT teammates
- Change management and coordination
Requirements:
Minimum and/or Preferred Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 5 years experience as an IT business analyst required, including:
- Experience in process analysis and requirements gathering and documentation required.
- Experience as a member of an application development team through all phases of the SDLC required.
- A minimum of 3-5 years experience with ERP; Oracle eBusiness Financials required.
- A minimum of 3-5 years experience with Oracle eBusiness Order Management a plus.
- Experience with Vertex integration to Oracle eBusiness a plus.
- Experience in test planning and execution and training documentation and execution preferred. Experience with RICE or AIM a plus.
- Knowledge and experience with ITIL processes a plus.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- ITIL Foundation Certification preferred.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate across all levels of management and interface with numerous departments.
- A strong understanding and a successful track record of participating on teams through the entire software development life cycle.
- Must be technically oriented and be able to gather and document complete requirements that can be used to support technical design
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, organizational and problem solving skills
- Good adaptability/flexibility and team work
- Ability to think creatively and implement ideas
- Must drive for results to achieve needed business results on time within budget and the agreed to level of quality
- Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision
