Senior Business Intelligence Analyst Category: Domestic Type: Description: SUMMARY The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst provides broad leadership experience and expertise in Business Intelligence Data Warehouse and associated presentation layers. The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst will work with stakeholders to gather, define and document business and technical requirements for Data Warehouse and Reporting projects. This role will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable solutions that will support the company’s analysis and reporting initiatives. The position will support full life cycle data warehouse application development including: requirements analysis, technical design, development, testing and ongoing maintenance and support.
Requirements: * Work directly with functional analysts and business users in understanding the information needs of the business and developing new data warehouse / BI functionalities or tools to meet these requirements * Capture and translate requirements, through a variety of interviewing, analysis and facilitation techniques, to create coherent design documents leading to successful data warehousing solutions * Assess existing and available data warehousing technologies and methods to ensure our data warehouse BI architecture meets the needs of the business and allows for business growth * Participate in building complete platform architecture and infrastructure to support business intelligence solution * Work with business users, managers, stakeholders, customers and project managers to gather and analyze the requirement for data warehouse projects * Actively participate in modeling, designing, developing, tuning and testing appropriate back-end structures and tools to meet business requirements * Generate source to target mappings, document data transformation business rules, and create data model requirements for data warehouse analysis and reporting projects · * Support existing data warehouse reporting platform and application to ensure operational availability and scalability * Assist and train users in various data analyses techniques and report generation · * Troubleshoot BI problems. * Identify, coordinate and help resolve the root cause of day to day production issues and streamline the business intelligence processes * Create user documentation and assist in documentation to assist in delivering end user training * Mentors other team members. * Other duties may be assigned. COMPUTER and SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; Excellent knowledge of Cognos 8 BI Suite (Query Studio, Report Studio, PowerPlay Transformer, Metrics Studio, Event Studio, Framework Manager, administration).
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Requires a BA in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent work experience * Strong organizational, project management and process analysis skills are essential * Good interpersonal skills required to interact with customers and team members * Requires ability to effectively manage multiple assignments and priorities * Requires ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to management, team members, business and technology professionals * Requires ability to develop good working relationships with business sponsors, business partners and technical staff * Experience reviewing and analyzing business requirements for modifications to existing or development of new systems * Excellent problem solving abilities * Prior experience (8 - 10 plus years) in a business intelligence of data warehouse analyst role * Strong requirements gathering and analysis skills * Knowledge of data analysis, profiling and conceptual modeling * Should have good experience with tuning and optimization techniques * Understanding of structured analysis and design techniques * In depth hands on experience with core Business Intelligence / data warehousing technology essential: RDBMS such as SQL Server or Oracle, ETL and OLAP tools * Extensive programming experience in SQL essential * Exposure to Web-based data delivery and reporting tools Development experience with at least one business intelligence tool such as Cognos, Microstrategy or Business Objects
