Posted Position Title Senior Controls Engineer Career Level Experienced Function Engineering/Technology Function Segment Product Design and Development Location United Kingdom City Aberdeen Postal Code AB23 8GD Relocation Assistance No Role Summary/Purpose The Senior Controls Engineer is responsible for the engineering design and output of the department, ensuring compliance with company and quality standards, and delivery of work scopes on time, and within budget to meet Customer schedules and internal company schedule requirements. Essential Responsibilities * Leading the Controls Engineering Team in all Engineering projects, working particularly closely with the Engineering Section Leader.
* Interpretation and Creation Of Specifications both at Customer and ISO Level.
* FMEA / HAZOP focal point
* System Interface Engineering Input
* Creation of Work Packages For Specialist Tasks
* Lead / Participation in Design Reviews
* Technical Liaison with other Departments, Customers & the Supply Base.
* Problem Solving / Root Cause Failure Investigation and Technical Reporting.
* Operational Support during the Build and Test Phases.
* Assist with Commercial Operations, Product and Sales functions during the pursuit and bid phases of a tender.
* Interpret customer specifications to produce design specifications.
* Identify and ensure equipment is designed in accordance with the current health, safety and environmental legislation.
* Maintain compliance to engineering quality control processes and update/create engineering work instructions where necessary.
* Develop conceptual design requirements for customer
* Undertake design verification, which may include but not limited to: risk analysis, failure analysis, design reviews, calculations to establish a full design verification package (DVP). Check and approve drawings, document's and calculations undertaken by others in support of design.
* Carry out design work for modifications and corrective work
* Carry out technical reviews with supply management to define the material requirements for design.
* Produce estimates, plans, for projects undertaken.
* Ensures compliance with Company Policies and Procedures.
* Minimizes risk to Health, Safety and Environmental impact as a result of the design, manufacture and operation of GE equipment.
* Provide accurate and validated Technical Proposals and an understanding of commercial impact.
* Confidence and ability to directly negotiate alternative solutions with internal and external customers and can quickly analyse the commercial consequences of making such decisions.
* Ensure all work is conducted to the "Spirit and the Letter" and in an environmentally and safe manner Qualifications/Requirements * Engineering Degree Qualified or relevant industry experience
* Specialist Production / Subsea Control Systems Experience
* Skills in multiple disciplines - Structural, Mechanical, Hydraulic, Materials
* Familiar with relevant industry standards and codes for area of work
* Have a good working knowledge of MS Office applications (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
* Ability to work across disciplines and departments, particularly production and manufacturing
* Strong time management skills and ability to perform to focused schedules
* Effective organisation and communication skills.
* Familiar with Health, Safety and Environmental regulatory requirements for this industry. Desired Characteristics Knowledge and experience pertaining to the following would be advantageous:
* Previous experience with VG & VG systems
* Knowledge of service maintenance procedures & processes
* Solid Oil & Gas industry knowledge
* Track record that demonstrates competence in design engineering.
* Experience in hydro-mechanical product design.
* Sound background of both practical and analytical experience that can be applied to solve complex hydro mechanical problems.
* Ability to use both past experience and technical ability to achieve solutions to complex electro mechanical problems to an agreed budget and timescale.
