Senior Data Warehouse Architect
Title: Senior Data Warehouse Architect Location: VA: VIRGINIA-FALLS CHURCH The successful candidate will meet the following requirements: * At least ten (10) years of experience in the following: * Performing conceptual, logical, and physical database modeling and design for transaction and/or data warehouse systems * Developing Data Warehouse Architectures using Inmon's Government Information Factory (GIF) Architecture Framework and/or Ralph Kimball's Data Warehouse Architecture * Performing physical database design - reading and interpreting logical data models and converting them to physical data models (and vice versa) * Working with Oracle DBMS V10G or V11G for database design * Working with data modeling tools (e.g., Computer Associates ERWIN, Embarcadero) * At least three (3) years of experience in the following: * * Experience in Data Architectures. * Experience with developing and debugging Oracle PL/SQL commands, syntax, and PL/SQL code * Experience with SDLC processes, procedures, and documentation requirements * Experience reviewing and modifying formal technical documents that detail the data architecture requirements, design and physical database implementation * Experience managing and providing technical direction to business analysts and data base administrators in the analysis, creation and management of multi-ties data repositories * Experience providing technical direction and design guidance for the structural design and implementation of relational data structures from network, relational, hierarchical, and flat-file data structures * Experience developing formal technical documents that detail the data architecture requirements, design, and physical database implementation * The successful candidate will have some experience of the following: * Experience with Oracle RAC implementations * Experience with Oracle Database Administration (Oracle 9i or higher) functions, processes, procedures, and syntax * Creating and managing Oracle data replication technology (e.g., Materialized Views, Oracle Streams, etc.,) * Teradata Physical Architectures * Understanding for Informatica PowerCenterEssential Job Functions * Uses deliverables from vision and strategy phase to develop conceptual technical models (Technical). * Creates best practice technical architecture models utilizing knowledge of industry and technical trends (Technical). * Identifies and evaluates technical architecture to ensure solutions satisfy business requirements and performance goals (Technical). * Uses Catalyst phases, activities and tasks as a basis for developing estimates and team plans (Methodology). * Leads a team of 6-10 resources (company, client and third-party resources) in area of expertise to conclusion of a project phase (Management). * Interprets business requirements and translates them into technical requirements (Business). * Manages client expectations and balances the needs of the company and client to ensure satisfaction for both (Relationship Management). * Influences decisions and project direction at the executive level (Relationship Management). * Performs consultative selling and leverages business through superior delivery skills, client relations and subject matter expertise (Leverage). * Participates in proposal efforts and sales calls (Leverage). * Provides leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel (Leadership). Basic Qualifications * Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience * Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred * Seven or more years of consulting experience with technical architecture strategy and design * Experience working with CSC Catalyst and/or equivalent client or vendor-mandated methodology * Experience working with capacity planning concepts for systems of all sizes and complexities * Experience working with technical trends to assess the future direction of technology Other Qualifications * Five to eight years of additional relevant experience in two or more technical specialty areas * Strong skills in one or more of the following: vision and strategy (VS), business area architecture (BAA), iterative custom development (ICD), package-based development (PBD), and accelerated application development (X/AD) * Strong communication skills * Ability to deal with and resolve ambiguity * Ability to anticipate problems and take decisive action, giving regard to the impact on both the client and CSC * Ability to anticipate problems and take decisive action, giving regard to the impact on both the client and the company * Ability to adjust personal style to different situations * Willingness to travel
