CIBER is searching for a Senior DB2 Database Administrator to assume responsibility for day-to-day operations of DB2 on the mainframe platform and all activities related to maintaining the enterprise database environment. This includes (but is not limited to) physical design, implementation of physical structures, IBM maintenance, system recovery and performance. Duties & Responsibilities: Configure, Administer and Support Various Software * Provide oversight for physical database structures using complex technical skills based on physical design for development, test, and production environments. * Responsible for complex database performance tuning, security, database backup/recovery strategy, replication, and implementing monitoring procedures to maximize availability of the database. * Mentor and train other database administrators, manage task assignments for associate database administrators, review work and provide input to Manager. Implement monitoring procedures to maximize availability and performance of the database, while meeting defined targets. * Provide oversight to application development teams on DBMS product technical issues, techniques and SQL review. * Coordinate with system programmers to configure systems for DBMS product installation and complex database creation. * Configure and maintain DBMS product software on complex database and application system.
Process Improvement/Documentation * Develop and maintain DB2 system/monitoring Guidelines and Procedures documentation. * Produce required physical data base design documentation. * Research and provide recommendations for system configurations, system designs, review of third party products, new products. * Implement new functionality of current products.
Develop/Maintain Database Objects * Implement production changes to databases. * Maintain disk space and memory configurations. * Perform scheduled maintenance. * Participate in Disaster Recovery exercise. * Monitors and tunes production tables as necessary. * Participate on capacity planning team.
Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in computer science. * 7 year's experience in a database environment on an enterprise scale with working knowledge of DB2 and SQL concept in a z/OS operating environment or combination of skills experience or certifications. * Demonstrated advanced analytical and investigative skills. Proven history of planning, implementing, testing and troubleshooting system software. * Track record of developing systems solutions for operational problems. * Solid understanding of physical data modeling, database design principals, programming, and a system development lifecycle.
Desired Skills: Experience in the following is a definite plus: * DB2 Connect, CA Platinum tools, REXX programming, Data replication setup and support, and DB2/UDB experience on AIX environment.
Physical Requirement and Work Environment * Provide 24/7 support as needed. * On-call approximately one week every month to resolve any issues that may arise. Required to be on call 24 hours a day for any type of problems that may arise.
