DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Technical Lead - System i Development, the Senior Developer is responsible for design and development of programs and applications to support on the IBM System i5. The primary focus of this role is to support our Donor Centred Support System (DCSS) which is an in-house developed application, primarily developed using RPG/LE.
Key Job Functions:
- Understanding of and ability to translate functional specifications into technical requirements. Involves working with business analysts and clients.
- Design and development of efficient, maintainable applications using industry standard techniques and tools.
- Estimation of work effort required for these tasks and adherence to those estimates.
- Extensive testing of all programming changes to minimize the number of defects found during User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Provide business and technical documentation for all applications developed.
- Research emerging tools and technologies and determine opportunities to utilize them at World Vision.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- RPG ILE programming including use of service programs and free format coding Embedded SQL
- System i DB2
- WDSC
- Stored procedures
- Integration with Sql Server and other Microsoft tools.
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in Computer Science
- Minimum of 5 years experience developing using RPG/LE and related disciplines in a System i environment.
