Overview: Solid knowledge of networking principles, Intrusion Detection, Network Packets, TCP headers, operating and supporting IDS applications, Linux OS, hacking techniques and tools, logical expressions and scripting filters, Ethereal Wireshark, SQL, SQEL, TCPDUMP, wireless technologies, wireless security protocols, Nessus tools. The contractor should have an understanding of firewalls, routers, bridges and other network devices. The contractor should understand network and IDS topographies. The contractor must have had previous IDS analyst experience with the above tools, software and applications.
Responsibilities: System Security Information Manager (SIM), Juniper Intrusion Detection and Prevention System (IDP), Symantec Critical System Protection (SCSP), and TCP Dump Server, IDP (NID), Symantec SCSP (HID), Symantec SIM, SANSTORM Phone Sweep, Fluke Networks Optiview Series III with Air Magnet option, Nessus Server
Qualifications: . Bachelor's degree in technical field or equivalent experience . 5 years of telecommunications network design, implementation and analysis . CCNA, CCNP or CCIE certification . ITIL Foundation certification . 7x24 on-call support. Shared rotation between team members on semi-monthly basis supporting large enterprise operations environment . Demonstrated proficiency in the following: analysis, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting.: * TCP, UDP, ICMP, Rate limiting, Quality of service, Complete understanding of IPV4 & Familiarity with IPV6 (Optional) . Security - Access Control List, Intrusion Detection Systems & Firewalls
Three to Five years of experience with the following is desired: . Cisco routers . Cisco Catalyst switches . Cisco Firewalls. PIX and FWSM (Desired) . Cisco IDS. Ability to understand intrusion detection and analyze an event generated by the IDS system and provides intelligent explanation (Desired). . Senior Level in the Network domain . Solid understanding of network design, Cisco Routers, Switches, Firewalls, troubleshooting, and reconfiguration to include LAN protocols and switching, best-practice configurations, LAN/WAN connectivity, and Firewall concepts . Work at the project level and lead tasks or projects in your area of expertise . Knowledge of Deptartment of Interior's Network Infrastructure, Enterprise Architecture and Technical Reference Model highly desirable . Current Secret Clearance or ability to obtain security clearance is required . Must able to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment . Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse user community with varied technical skills and experiences . Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
