Responsibilities: * Work in small, high-performance teams creating applications and user tools * Serve as journeyman technologists: being fully capable of designing and developing code, configuring environments, and deploying technical solutions - all with very little supervision * Seize opportunities to lead the design, development, and integration of independent modules of enterprise-level, web-based applications * Configure local, integration, and production environments for project development and deployment * Support quick-turnaround software development in a dynamic and highly visible environment * Double, on occasion, as maintainers and bug-fixers of legacy Java software
Qualifications: * Complete proficiency in Java application development, preferably including the use of SEAM and Hibernate frameworks or similar * Practical experience with the JPA, SSO, XML/XLST, Ajax, and JavaScript frameworks, and facility with UML and design patterns * Practical experience implementing applications within service oriented architectures, JavaCAPS preferred * Working knowledge of the leading application server capabilities, configurations, and services * Experience using Subversion, Eclipse/MyEclipse, Jira, and similar developer tools * The ability to develop applications using enterprise scale DBMSs (Oracle, Sybase) * A familiarity with unit testing frameworks, tools (JUnit or similar), and techniques * To be well-versed in object oriented methodologies and coding practices * The aptitude for learning and adopting new technologies and frameworks * A Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field This position is located in a Metro-accessible DC location.
