Title: Java Software Developer
Location: Downtown Toronto, ON

Description:
Novell is seeking experienced Senior Java Software Developer to assume key creative roles in developing our industry leading datacenter management products. We are looking for people with the right blend of skills, education, experience, and attitude to fill this exciting and challenging position.

Responsibilities:
- Design and develop software products related to Novell's Intelligent Workload Management solution.
- Implement appropriate unit and system level tests to ensure high quality code prior to hand-off to Test Engineering.
- Mentor junior members of the team.
- Research new technologies as they relate to the product offerings.
- Work closely with the Product Management, Support, and Test Engineering teams to achieve the highest business value for the company.
- Have fun while doing whatever it takes to get the job done.

Skills:
At least 5 years of demonstrated professional experience in the following:
- Java, Web Service, J2EE
- OOA/OOD/OOP
- Distributed systems
- Java SOA, ESB
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Strong understanding and recognition of Design Patterns

The following skills are Desirable:
- Unit Testing Framework (JUnit)
- Knowledge of GlassFish, OpenESB, Drools, Spring
- Knowledge of Virtualization Technologies
- Virtual Machines, VMware, Xen
- Knowledge of database design
- Knowledge of system performance paradigms
- Load balancing, clusters, distributed execution, agents
- Knowledge of formal software development methodologies

QUALIFICATIONS:
- A university degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
- A minimum of 5 years software development experience in a commercial software development environment.
