* Able to prioritize projects with respect to milestones and deadlines * Work with the Platform, Desktop and Development groups to resolve issues * Able to maintain a positive and cooperative attitude in sometimes stressful situations * Willing to work as part of a team and share responsibilities when needed * Flexible and willing to learn new technologies and applications * Stay current on industry trends and new technologies that may increase efficiency or decrease costs on Thomson Reuters Professional installed networks and future network initiatives * Train others on networking technologies or projects that you are leading * Provide insight into future project costs for budgeting purposes * Support rotating pager responsibilities * Provide off hours support and installation as needed
Responsibilities:
Design and Support data center customer facing networks with the following Technologies:
* Cisco Nexus 5000 and 7000 * Cisco 4500 and 6500 chassis based switches * Cisco 4900 switches * Access-list management * Layer 2 and Layer 3 network switching/routing * IP address provisioning * Vlan allocation and management * Routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, HSRP, and GLBP * Packet Capture and analysis
This position will have acccess to highly sensitive public record information and as a result all NEW HIRES AND CURRENT employees in positions of this level will be subject to PERIODIC background checks.
Qualifications
Required:
* 4+ years experience as a Network/Systems Engineer in a large diverse environment * In depth experience with designing networks and implementing Cisco switches and routers * Knowledge and experience with TCP/IP, Layer 2 and 3 switching, Cisco IOS and NX-OS * Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field * Cisco CCNA or CCNP certification is desirable * Scripting experience * ITIL Processes * Knowledge of operating systems such as Unix and Linux * Familiarity with general change control processes and HP Service Manager * Experience with Cisco Nexus 2000 fabric extenders and Nexus 1000V switch * Knowledge of server virtualization technologies such as VMware as it relates to network connectivity * Experience with network management and automation tools such as HP Network Automation (formerly known as Opsware)
