The Senior Network Engineer will assist in designing, implementing and maintaining an infrastructure for an enterprises class networking environment. The ideal candidate should have experience in supporting and designing Cisco networks and have experience with Cisco IOS and Nexus environments. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for consulting over network architectural design and implementation for enterprise data centers and remote sites. Develops architectures and procedures in the area of network services and telecommunications systems and must have experience with developing appropriate architectures to leverage existing infrastructure and have an open mind to emerging technologies. Lead complex troubleshooting efforts, comprehend, analyze and research problems of a complex nature, and make judgment decisions and recommendations as to the solution. Creates documentation, architectural drawings, and system standards for network and telecommunication systems. Ensures that all network related hardware and software is operating properly and is on supported versions/releases. Ensures all backups for network devices are recoverable and tested. Plans for and implements network upgrades. Generates and presents reports regarding network metrics. Works closely with internal customers, IT staff, vendors, and other consultants to coordinate plans for developing projects. Forecasts future network utilization and equipment requirements. Identify and determine risks regarding security issues and informs management. QUALIFICATIONS Prefer BS degree in related field and at least 10 years of design and implementation experience with network design, routing, switching, and management and security tools - Cisco experience preferred. Possesses expert knowledge of Cisco routing and switching (Cisco 6500) and Nexus technology is preferable as well as a detailed architectural and engineering understanding of network services in LAN, WAN and data center environments. Knowledge of Cisco UCS platforms is a plus, but not absolutely required. In depth knowledge of Cisco FWSM and ASAs in a multi context environment. Expert in making changes in a complex multi-routing protocol environment (BGP & OSPF). Experience and desire to expand knowledge of Cisco Call Manager and VoIP implementations. Be able to lead complex troubleshooting efforts, comprehend, analyze and research problems of a complex nature, and make judgment decisions and recommendations as to the solution. Have the ability to provide outstanding customer support to both internal and external customers. Have excellent communications with others, especially regarding to technical matters. Must be able to successfully complete company background check as well as pre-employment drug screening. Require to have dependable transportation and live less than 30 minutes away from downtown Norfolk. Be capable of lifting and carry equipment up to 50 pounds. Should be able to sit or stand for long periods of time. Must have the availability to occasionally work extra hours (including weekends).
