Senior Oracle DBA
Job Description:
A client of ours in the Brentwood, TN area is looking for a permanent, full-time Sr. Oracle DBA to join their team. This person will be the "go-to", Lead Sr. Oracle DBA, and will be joining a team of a mid-level Oracle DBA, a Sr. SQL DBA, and another SQL DBA in the new year. This environment contains 50 Oracle DBs (one with 3 Terabytes). This person will be responsible (with management) the overall view of the Oracle environment, suggest improvements, tighten processes/philosophies and document them, make presentations to the Enterprise Manager and Director, and lead cross training on Oracle initiatives. Walking in the door, projects include running lead on migrating 12 databases from 9i Enterprise to 11g standard edition, moving the data warehouse from RAC to stand alone server, and helping out with the loading and application support for new company clients. In addition, this person will be lead on transitioning the application support to other teams and developing the process for it.
The right person will have 5-7 years of Oracle DBA experience (Production DBA). They will have significant experience with version 11g, specifically, and prior performance tuning, Disaster recovery, and backup experience. Preferential consideration will be given to those with RMAN and RAC experience. Also, it would be a bonus (not necessary) if this person had Shell Scripting experience and prior support in a data warehouse environment. From a soft skill perspective, they need a high energy person that likes a fast paced environment. Someone concerned only with backups/performance/DR will not be a fit here. While they will be called on to do this, they must be comfortable rolling with the punches. As with other DBA positions, this person will have some time being on-call - potentially every third week, but management wants this person to be comfortable so it's up for discussion.
