There is an immediate opening for a Sr. Production Engineer at the Fluorine Products plant in Baton Rouge, LA. Fluorine Products represents a $900 million segment of the Specialty Materials business unit and is a leader the refrigerants industry, manufacturing and supplying customers with economical chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) replacements and non-ozone depleting hydro-fluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerants for automotive, home, commercial and transportation uses.

The Sr. Production Engineer position reports to the Operations Manager and is located at our Baton Rouge, Louisiana site. This is a great position for someone who enjoys the challenge in making improvements and driving change. This Sr. Production Engineer will work closely with unit personnel to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the chemical production units. Another exciting aspect of this position is that it will be heavily involved with the start-up of a plant expansion.

Duties include:
* Responsible for resolving manufacturing issues on the shop floor, and working as a liaison between operations and engineering to achieve daily production targets. Liaison to other departments: maintenance, tank farm, packaging, supply chain, and quality
* Support production units with daily troubleshooting of production or quality problems
* Drive improvements in material usage variance (MUV) and yields, including development of metrics through standard work, as required
* Drive health, safety and environmental (HSE) improvements through the unit operations; lead and implement actions to advance safety and environmental performance and awareness
* Lead improvement teams utilizing the Honeywell Operating System tools to implement improvement ideas
* Execute the Management of Change (MOC) process in compliance with process safety requirements
* Partner with Maintenance Department to execute the mechanical integrity program to maintain and improve unit reliability
* Responsible for the creation and maintenance of work instructions
* Improve information flow within SAP and other standard work processes
* Support capital improvement project implementations
* Other duties and assignments as necessary.

Other responsibilities may include supporting debottlenecking and expansion efforts, turn-around related work, creation of plant tests, improving on-stream time, participating in accident/ incident investigations, developing operating procedures and performing training
* Must embrace Honeywell Structured Safety Process, Honeywell Operating System, Six Sigma, Lean and standard work methodology.
* The individual will be expected to work closely with manufacturing groups as well as process technology groups to identify and develop solutions to meet the growing needs for unit process engineering
The position will be expected to work closely with the Fluorocarbons manufacturing groups as well as process technology areas to identify and develop solutions to meet the growing needs for production.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS :
* Bachelors of Science Degree in a Technical Discipline
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS :
* BS in Chemical Engineering
* 3 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing plant
* 5-7 years experience with a thorough understanding of chemical unit operations, particularly heat transfer, distillation, fluid flow and process control preferred
* Waste Water Treatment experience a plus
* Successful candidate should be results-oriented with good interpersonal communication and team-based skills
* Good communication, strong analytical and technical skills, keen interest for problem solving and trouble-shooting are essential
