POSITION DESCRIPTION: Apply Online DEPARTMENT : REPORTS TO : LOCATION : Waukegan, IL ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT: The BW Developer position is responsible for design, development, implementation and support of innovative SAP Business Intelligence (BI) / Business Warehouse(BW) solutions, including but not limited to: SAP Netweaver EP (Enterprise Portals), SAP Netweaver Visual Composer and Crystal Reports based on user requirements utilizing established methodologies and the standards adopted by the Company.
The BW Developer will be responsible for working with Systems Development & Support Group and key business users to gather requirements, translate functional specifications into technical specifications ensuring a comprehensive design, developing assigned portions of the solution, testing, and on-going customer support.
QUALIFICATIONS: * BS in Computer Science or equivalent degree in business; MS in Computer Science or MBA preferred. * At least 6 years experience, 3+ years hands-on experience developing / maintaining SAP BI/BW Solutions required. * Must possess a solid understanding of all facets of SAP BI/BW including data extraction, transformation, loading, data modeling, query definition, web application designer, report designer and performance tuning and monitoring. * Extensive experience in requirements gathering and interpretation in a business intelligence environment required. * Strong Knowledge in reporting/analytics: BEx Analyzer, Web Application Designer and Crystal Reports. * Experience in designing and developing Management Dashboards. * Experience with Web API’s, command URLs, HTML, Java Script and Cascading Style Sheets required * Working knowledge and understanding of SAP ERP Modules (SD, MM, FI/CO etc), SAP CRM, SAP SCM, SAP xSOP and SAP SEM etc required. * Must have experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.) including a strong understanding of database design, SQL queries, PL/SQL, etc. * Experience in ABAP to write Start Routines, Update/Transfer Rules, variables user exits, etc., * Experience with SAP Enterprise Portals, Netweaver, and SAP XI desired. * Thorough understanding of BI/BW security concepts. * Ability to synthesize requirements and design factors from user interviews, management directives. Company business practices, and existing systems in a timely manner, develop design documents and implement these as code for new systems for several projects at once. * Ability to create a system from a set of design documents, and to create written technical documentation for the system, and to verbally communicate the features and functions of the system to the end-user. * Outstanding written and communications skills are essential. Must deal directly with both internal and external customers in a fast-paced setting. * Must work well under deadlines. Must be able to facilitate timely completion of assignments with minimum supervision. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Work Environment: There is no exposure to weather and temperature extremes; cramped spaces; loud noises; chemicals, fumes or dust; heights; or work safety hazards. There are occasional overtime/extended work hours. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: * Lead efforts to implement and support an operational SAP BI/BW system (where possible) to satisfy business requirements or enhance/customize where necessary. Design and develop extractors, DSOs, cubes and reports including the use of ABAP where necessary. * Work with others as appropriate to develop and manage SAP BI/BW implementations, upgrades and related test plans across the organization. * Lead efforts in the requirements analysis for new BI/BW projects. * Identify security requirements, including creation of new roles and/or addition to existing for given business. * Work with the user community, other SAP Groups and Administrators in IT to successfully implement applications. * Responsible for meeting all assigned/agreed on target dates for projects as well as individual tasks. * Maintain the design, code, documentation, and testing procedures during the functional lifecycle of the system, after initial implementation, based on input from the user community. * Performs all SAP component, assembly, and integration testing required and documents the results of all testing in accordance with Program procedures and standards. * Supports quality reviews and other external evaluation of all SAP BI/BW design, development, and testing efforts. * Stays current on the latest trends and methods in application development to adequately support the needs of the company. * Provides training and support to application administrators and/or end users. * Participate in the creation of BI/BW development standards while adhering to policies, methodologies, standards, and guidelines. * Proactively and effectively communicate potential problems, recommended solutions and progress. Work directly with SAP identifying and resolving bugs and requesting improvements in functionality. * Participate in company-sponsored activities, including suggestion programs, quality training, etc. * Perform other duties and functions as required.
