Title: SENIOR SOFTWARE DEVELOPER - DEFENCE* Location: United Kingdom-HOOK Senior Software Developer - Advanced Mission Planning Applications (AMPA) Permanently based in Hook, Hampshire. AMPA Systems run the planning of aircraft operations for the RAF's Tornados, Harriers, C-130Js, Hawks and other aircraft. AMPA Systems are also supplied to the Joint Helicopter Command, Fleet Air Arm and the RAF for the planning of Rotary Wing operations and exported to overseas Air Forces. The Systems are networked together across the main Bases and deployed Sites to allow for the sharing of mission plans and is linked into other C2 Systems. AMPA is built around a common software core with variants produced for each Aircraft type. It is hosted on a Linux platform on PC hardware with the possibility of moving to a Windows platform. AMPA has already been supplied on Laptop and tablet PCs to some customers. The current development environment is built around the Rational ClearCase configuration management tool. AMPA has proved to be very successful in both the UK and export market due, in part, to the high level of support provided to the end Users in the form of training, support for exercises, and requirements gathering for software changes. TheSenior Software Developeris responsible for software development through at all stages of the project lifecycle. From initial bid and proposal, project initiation, requirements gathering, system design, implementation, testing, acceptance and through to in-service support. The vast majority of your time will be spent understanding, investigating, prototyping and proposing design solutions to a number of exciting and complex enhancements to the AMPA Systems. This role requires:-
- Excellent C Programming skills -Experience of researching and designing complex multi-language networked systems. - Good Documentation Skills - Good Communication skills - Can do attitude with the ability to self direct work - UNIX / Linux - Security Clearance to SC
