Primary Responsibilities:
Developing features and functionality for our E-commerce platform ranging from Search to Checkout
Focusing on top-notch user experience which exceeds customer expectations
Developing mission critical services which are robust, scalable, and self-maintaining
Working with Product and Project Management to iteratively gather and translate business requirements into high-quality technical specifications
Working independently, seeking feedback when appropriate
Effectively collaborating with other stakeholders (technical and non-technical) across the business
Providing peer design and code reviews with a focus on performance, scalability and proper programming techniques
Participating in the entire software development life cycle, from scoping to delivery
Designing new systems for operability to improve the efficiency of our Support Engineering and Infrastructure groups
Improving software quality and overall system architecture of multi-tiered distributed software systems
Demonstrating sincere interest in the professional growth of peers through constructive feedback, knowledge sharing, and frequent mentoring. Our company is committed to a team-centric, "put people first" environment
Qualifications:
B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science. Equivalent experience may be considered
Strong experience in Java, Object Oriented Design, and programming on the UNIX/Linux environment
Solid experience in at least one relational DBMS (Postgres, Oracle, MySQL, etc.). Excellent ability to program in SQL
Solid experience with large-scale web architecture using PHP, JSP, JSF, Ruby on Rails or related
Solid experience with a scripting language such as Perl, Ruby, or Python (expert in at least one)
Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
Hands-on distributed system development a huge plus
Excellent technical writing ability
Ability to focus and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Excellent functional skills. Ability to "roll up your sleeves" and quickly understand how a complex system works
Experience with pragmatic incremental architectural changes a big plus Outdoor interests (skiing, snowboarding, climbing, cycling, etc.) a big plus
