Context: The International Engineering Excellence team is devoted to advancing engineers and engineering across Microsoft distributed development centers. We are chartered to work with the leadership of all the engineering disciplines to identify and develop engineering skills that align with Microsoft best practices. This includes developing training and cutting-edge tools to facilitate cross-group collaboration and building trust and stronger team social ties through communities to address some of the most pressing challenges facing distributed product teams. The work in this forming team will be fast-paced, exploring different solutions and technologies and getting them deployed at large scale. This position offers a unique opportunity to get to work with the different divisions across Microsoft and having a broad impact by benefitting large communities of engineers.
Job Responsibilities: In your role as the primary developer on this team you work closely with the Distributed Development team in Redmond to scope out projects. You propose architectures, technologies, tools and service infrastructure requirements. You setup and maintain the development environment. You own the implementation of solutions in conjunction with vendors and in coordination with Redmond which means coding large portions of the core components. You provide leadership to vendors by defining clear interfaces and deliverables, setting and managing expectations around quality and performance. You collaborate with IT to deploy, tune, and adapt systems based on performance data and customer feedback. You are accountable to the Director of Development.
Required skills/qualifications: A BS/MS degree in Computer Science or a related discipline. Passion for people and desire to advance the development community at Microsoft. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Experience working across multiple groups and teams. Self-Starter with the ability to get going on new projects with new technology and deliver results quickly. Broad knowledge of client / server / services architectures and practical experience implementing a variety of solutions. Strong working knowledge of C++/C# and . Previous experience building solutions on SharePoint technologies a big plus. Previous experience with conferencing and real-time communication solutions desired. Previous experience deploying large-scale solutions through MSIT desired.
