Business EMC Location(s) US - North Carolina - Research Triangle Park Title Senior Software Engineer Requisition ID 48989BR Job Description Working under limited direction and within general practices, develop enterprise solutions packages and collateral using EMC Unified Storage products, existing EMC functionality, and third party applications for vertical and horizontal markets. Understands company goals and practices and applies them when resolving a variety of problems. Uses judgment and creativity and sound technical knowledge to obtain and recommend solutions.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Sphere of influence is likely to extend outside of work group or department. • Represents the organization on project teams and may perform technical project leadership roles. • Contributes to the development and achievement of organizational goals and objectives. • Generate best practices documentation, performance characterizations, technical briefs, and white papers that are applicable to sales, marketing, and engineering. • Accountable for delivery of solutions, anticipate issues and addresses proactively. • Develop tools and utilities to be used as components of a solution or as solution-related collateral for network-attached storage marketplace.. • Generate documentation in clearly written formats that easily convey technical information to sales, partners, system administrators, and end users. • Evaluate solution test results and proof-of-concepts for competitive advantage and emerging market trends. • Writes high level design specs and integration test plans.
SKILLS • Knowledge of appropriate development languages such as Java, C#, .NET and related debugging skills. • Windows and Linux/UNIX system administration, storage system administration and design, and complex network administration skills. • Knowledge in various computer technologies such as Network Attached Storage (NAS) concepts, Storage Attached Networks (SAN), grid computing environments, file system management, data replication, data backup/restore tools, network layout, and protocols such as CIFS, NFS, iSCSI, Fibre Channel, and TCP/IP. • Strong written and oral communication skills. • Understanding of multiple markets and how they use and maintain data storage. • Project management skills. • Proven experience working in cross functional teams and interacting with customers.
