Senior Software Engineer
Pictometry International is an information systems company using a unique and revolutionary form of aerial photography and advanced avionics to capture geo-referenced images of a geographic region. Our headquarters is located in Rochester, New York. A Rochester-based opening is available for a Senior Software Engineer to work as a member of the Engineering Team that is responsible for developing the next generation of our desktop GIS application. The ideal developer will be fluent in software development, mainly focused on mixed language desktop application programming using C#, C++, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. This is not an entry level position; therefore candidates should apply only if they are looking for the challenge of working in a senior engineering role. Ideal candidate must be self motivated, flexible, work well in a team environment, and most of all have the customer as their top priority. Duties and Responsibilities: Design, develop, implement and test desktop based application Apply industry standard object-oriented programming best practices and design patterns Plan, initiate and conduct unit testing of applications as well as facilitate system testing Support and troubleshoot production applications Optimize software to enhance and improve performance and functionality Meet development objectives and deadlines Required Skills: Strong design and implementation skills pertaining to desktop applications and rich media applications using C# Robust understanding of Object Oriented Programming concepts and design Knowledge of industry-standard application architectures, design patterns, technology standards and best practices Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, self motivated, eager to learn Ability to multi-task effectively Ability to solve problems creatively and be innovative Good organizational skills Excellent verbal and communication skills Preferred Skills (not required) Experience with C/C++, HTML, JavaScript, CSS GIS experience Experience with User Experience Design for desktop applications Qualifications and Experience: 5+ years of experience in desktop application development technologies and concepts Experience/expert-level knowledge of C# Familiarity with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS a plus.
