Job Description
Becoming a member of the Celerra testability engineering team in NAS Engineering is a unique opportunity for a combination developer/tester. This person will have the opportunity to work on all aspects of the "storage platform for the next decade", providing a testing focus and product enhancements to improve the quality of the product and the productivity of the engineering team. We build scalable tools, repeatable technical solutions, and work with experts from across the company to highlight, measure, and resolve common developer problems.
Responsibilities
· Provide testing leadership for a team of software engineers
· Serve as an expert in software testing, development processes, test design, and tools to provide immediate value to projects and problem solving
· Conceptualize and initiate solutions to improve test coverage, provide for continuous testing, test automation and tools and generally streamline software development.
· Apply advanced testing theories, principles, and concepts
· Share a well developed understanding of the business and competitive environment with colleagues
· Solicit test ideas and feedback on testing efficiency and coverage with developers
· Provide status and analysis information to developers and management for monitoring current development status.
· Make changes to product code(C, C++), develop tools (Python or C++), and test scripts (Perl) for testing purposes.
· Plan testing, including scope of development work for tests as well as estimations for scheduling release end-game.
Skills and Experience
· Technical leadership ability and experience
· Ability to effectively work with and lead a team and to influence others
· Comfortable working in a highly distributed international environment
· Experience testing or developing in the following areas: file systems, storage, volume managers, networking, virtualization and or data services such as snapshots, replication, or de-duplication.
· Experience working with one or more of the following: distributed systems, clustering, operating systems, embedded systems, file virtualization, or network protocols
· A broad knowledge of Linux, Windows, and/or UNIX operating system technology
· Knowledge of additional storage protocols, I/O subsystems, and/or device drivers a plus
· Strong problem solving skills
· Good C/C++ and Perl programming skills
· Multi-threaded programming experience
· Experience utilizing contemporary software engineering principles
· Strong communication skills, both spoken and written, are required for interaction with team members, senior members of the staff and other organizations
Education/Experience
· BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or closely related field
· 10, 8, or 6 years relevant experience, depending on degree
