Job Description Siemens Government Services (SGS) is seeking an individual for a position as a Senior Systems Analyst/Administrator. SGS is a dynamic and rapidly growing organization. We are seeking a self-driven individual to complement our growing team. Responsibilities include: . Provide server management and system administration expertise and services in support of Microsoft operating systems and technologies within the corporate computing department. . Design, develop, implement, install, troubleshoot and enhance Microsoft systems hosting a variety of network support services, such as Microsoft AD Directory Services, DNS and various corporate computing applications running on Microsoft systems. . Install new software releases and system upgrades, evaluate and install patches and resolve software related problems. . Monitor and manage system configuration to ensure data integrity using tools such as IBM Tivoli, Confguresoft or Managesoft. Assist with customer support and network storage management. . Maintain and update documentation on the operating systems' configuration. Participate in review boards for all changes or additions to the standard configuration. Participate in various design reviews. Required to work independently with limited supervision. Additional responsibilities include: . Perform service monitoring and capacity planning . Ensure appropriate security measures to protect information assets . Define and implement improvements to lower costs, improve efficiencies and eliminate repetitive problem . Conduct systematic performance tuning . Design and develop scripts and other programs for systems monitoring and performance . Participate with the development, documentation and implementation of metrics tracking and reporting . Contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity plans. . Stay up to date on current directions of relevant technologies. . Provide 24/7 on-call systems operational support on rotation basis. . Lead internal projects and manage and mentor junior systems administrators . Make design recommendations for internal software and hardware projects. Requirements include: . Applicant must have at least 5 years directly related experience . A degree in information technology or equivalent experience. . 3 years experience building and configuring windows 2003-2008 servers required. Experience in administering active directory (users, GPO, DNS, DHCP, etc). . Experience managing and maintaining Microsoft technologies, and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Communication Server (OCS). . Ability to write documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, and corrections. . Knowledge of and demonstrated in-depth experience in: o Server hardware setup and configuration o Operating System configuration and administration o Configuration Backup/Restore o IIS . Experience with server monitoring and management tools . Complex problem troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills . Possess excellent oral and written communications skills, to include writing/editing of technical documentation for international audiences. . Ability to learn new skills and keep current with rapidly changing information technology . Ability to work independently and be available for after hours support as needed. Additional skills desired: . Exchange 2003 and higher experience strongly desired. Other skills desired include Microsoft clustering, backup technologies, and VMware ESX . Citrix Technology for server and application virtualization . Knowledge of disk allocation and performance monitoring in SAN's. Certifications . MCSA, MCSE 2003 preferred . ITIL Foundations a plus. Security Clearance: Candidate must be a US citizen and will be subject to a government security investigation to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the Secret level. ** Position could be based out of Reston, VA or Richardson, TX
