*** This position requires at a minimum "Interim Secret Clearance" prior to the start of work. *** Candidate must be a US citizen and either possess or be eligible for a DoD SECRET clearance.
This work is on site at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune NC and MCAS New River NC Network Administrators help install and support an organization's SIPRNet computer network and their computer systems. Responsible for local area networks (LAN), base area network (BAN) network segments, and intranet systems. Work in a variety of IT job environments, including organization offices, government organizations, and large Unit offices. Help on a basic level to maintain systems hardware and software, analyze problems, and monitor networks to ensure their availability to system users. Also help perform network back-ups and measure network performance. Normally work under the Team Lead Manager who will provide direct supervision to team members.
Work Content The consultant will have the following responsibilities:
• Solid understanding of LAN/WAN technologies
• Configure, build, install, tune, and operate GFE TACLANES, routers, switches, content switches, firewalls, and other supporting network and security related systems.
• Research, analyze, recommend, and implement new technologies to support emerging requirements.
• Provide the organization and BAN/LAN team with recommendations for the modification of existing technology for common transport technologies (BAN/LAN) with the majority of the most frequently used ones (MPLS, SDH/SONET, FR, ATM, PPP, DSL, Ethernet).
• Provide recommendations for the configuration and implementation of major routing protocols (for example BGP, MP-BGP, ISIS, OSPF, RIP, RIPv2, EIGRP).
• Provide recommendations for the configuration and implementation of common networking equipment including TACLANE, Cisco routers, Cisco switches, Cisco Wireless Access Points, Cisco Content Switches, CSUs/DSUs, Modems, Multiplexers, and exposure to other Cisco equipment).
• Provide recommendations for the configuration and implementation of structured cabling systems, Cat5e, RJ-45/fiber patch panels, wall outlets, and multimode & single mode fiber optic cabling.
• Assist in the design, development, implementation support, and optimization of infrastructure systems that enable and support business and/or engineering functions.
• Conceptualize, construct, test and implement integrated network, hardware, and software solutions; distributed computing solutions; and/or physical and logical communications networks for the customer.
• Review other infrastructure system designs to select appropriate technology, assess efficient use of resources, and evaluate integration of multiple systems and technologies.
• Provide analytical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills related to BAN/LAN.
• Provide input, as requested, to G-6/S-6 Division, regarding the technical direction of the project.
• Test and implement integrated network; hardware and software solutions; distributed computing solutions; and/or physical and logical communications networks for the customer.
• Monitor and assess Government-specified metrics for the resolution of performance issues.
• Interface with others on system infrastructure problems and technical concerns.
• Maintain appropriate network certifications based on current and emerging Department of Defense (DoD) Information Security (IS) and Information Assurance (IA) doctrine as well as promulgation of USMC specific policies and procedures outlining the protection of all information communication mediums. Implements and Enforces policies under the administrative control of Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC), and Joint Network Operations (NetOps) directives, orders and procedures under the operational control of the Joint Task Force Global Network Operations (JTF-GNO).
• Train to and comply with resident command's disaster recovery/ continuity of network
operations plan.
Required Skills: High School Diploma or Equivalent; CompTIA Security+ Certification; One of the following Cisco CCENT(Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician); Cisco CCNA™ Certification; Cisco CCDA™ Certification
