City / Ville Edmonton Province Alberta [AB] Title / Titre Senior Systems Analyst Job ID / Numéro d'identification du poste 9749 Position Overview / Vue d'ensemble du poste Reporting to the Project Manager, the Senior Systems Analyst's role is to lead our technical teams in building IT solutions that sustain our client's efforts in growing and improving our retail operations. As leaders in our IT organization, SSAs draw on their extensive knowledge of past projects to overcome obstacles and challenges to determine effective and cost-effective solutions. The incumbent will apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve systems issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. Responsibilities / Responsabilités * Lead in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications and enhancements to existing applications. * Lead development teams under the direction of a Project Manager. * Coordinating and overseeing technical deliverables submitted by outside vendors. * Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve business systems issues. * Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems. * Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems. * Create system design proposals. * Assist in cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions. * Create systems documentation, models, specifications, diagrams and charts to provide direction to system programmers. * Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems. * Conduct research on hardware and software products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts. Requirements / Exigences Education & Experience Required * Extensive experience working in team-oriented or project oriented, collaborative environments. * University degree or technical diploma in the field of computer science, information science, or management information systems and at least eight years related work experience. * Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products. * Five years prior experience working in web oriented programming languages (e.g. Java or PHP) with at least two year of experience in J2EE/Java EE. * Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship
Knowledge & Skills Required * Experience in any of the following would be considered an asset and should be highlighted on your resume: o Experience with Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) implementations o C, Pro C or C++ o Oracle SQL and/or PL/SQL o Oracle Forms o SQR o Informatica o IBM Cognos o ATG Commerce o Atlassian Confluence o Eclipse * Excellent written and oral English communication skills. * Excellent listening and interpersonal skills. * Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required. * Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language. * Highly self motivated and directed. * Keen attention to detail. * Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities. * Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. * Strong customer service orientation. * Leadership skills Job Type / Type d'emploi Full-Time / Temps plein
