The Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking a Sr. Systems Analyst, located in Salem, Oregon. This position performs logical and physical design; create and maintain physical databases; monitor and tune database performance, manage backup and recovery for physical databases; and manage database administration tool in a technically sophisticated computer environment. In addition, this position participates in the development of database standards and guidelines for the organization; participates in the strategic and tactical data planning; and provides direction, leadership and technical direction within their team. The incumbent plays a key role in designing the transactional data, reporting infrastructure for various projects and systems data warehousing.
Perform logical and physical data modeling in support of program business objectives. Create and maintain the physical databases. Responsible for working closely with the data analysts and other technical staff in defining the optimal database design. Create and manage the physical data models for the program.
Manage the physical database environments for the program. Responsible for the monitoring and tuning the performance of physical databases; and working with the agency data management group for managing the backup and recovery process for physical databases to meet the business requirements of the program. Manage the database administration tools. Participate in the testing and implementation of the database management system.
Develop and oversee large technically complex data conversion and migration efforts. Responsible for directing the activities of contractors and state staff developing the data conversion programs, data migration and validation tasks and conversion reporting.
Develop and manage data standards and guidelines for the program. Responsible for working closely with business users and technical staff in developing standards/guidelines and ensuring that they meet the business need of the program.
Adopt agency standards on database administration tools. Set documentation policies and procedures. Provide quality assurance for the usage of standards and guidelines.

Six years of professional consultative, technical, or administrative experience, providing expert advice and leadership in the planning, development, coordination, and implementation of information systems. Experience must include activities in:
* Communications: Communication means the connections that link systems and includes voice, data, image, and video.
* Data: Data means data bases and associated master files.
AND EITHER
(a) at least 30 quarter (20 semester) credits in computer science; OR
(b) two more years of experience providing a knowledge of information systems theory and principles.
15 quarter (10 semester) graduate-level computer science, software engineering, information systems, or equivalent credits may substitute for one year of the professional experience.
