Position Description:

The Health and Compliance group at CGI Federal is looking for senior technical writers who can be part of a large team in a dynamic and changing environment. Projects include software solution development and support for mission critical applications in the federal healthcare space.

The projects utilize rapid design and development techniques to respond to client demands for meeting the challenges of healthcare reform and open government directives. CGI Federal provides in-depth functional and technical expertise, offering clients a focused set of solutions that help federal health organizations to become more productive, cost-effective, secure and service-oriented.

Position Description: The successful candidate will be process-oriented, conceptually driven, and possess the ability to think strategically and work collaboratively in a highly technical setting. He/she will be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously with little to no guidance and make recommendations on how to best structure technical documentation to achieve stated goals.

The primary responsibility for this position is writing technical documentation for software development and to describe software architecture. Other tasks may include writing formal client deliverables. In support of these various projects the incumbent will work with development teams to recommend and then create technical documents, as well as manage the document review and approval process. The technical writer will meet with principal leadership and attend technical meetings and demonstrations in order to gather project information. He/she may also contribute to and participate in testing activities identified by the development teams. Due to the fast-paced work environment, some local travel to client sites and surge hours may be necessary to accomplish tasks.

Interviewees must submit recent examples of their work.

Required experience includes:
?Significant experience in writing, and editing technical documentation, such as concepts of operations, Architecture guides, software design specifications, user manuals, white papers, and proposals.
?Ability to collaborate with programmers, engineers, architects, graphic designers, and project managers during the design phase to gain an understanding of a project and communicate with development teams with some technical acuity.
Ability to create a software user manual by using and learning the application, including capturing screen shots, and user workflows.
?Experience in shadowing engineers, architects and analysts to understand process, technology and repeatable tasks and document them for end-users. Ability to interview software developers, architects and business analysts to create detailed process documentation and technical documentation.
?Proficiency in document design and layout of materials to be published. Proficiency with Visio, Microsoft office, etc. to produce user-friendly and thorough documentation.

Required Skills:
?A strong command of the English language, with experience using industry-standard style guides.
?Advanced level of expertise in Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Visio and other document publishing technologies
?Passionate about producing high quality technical documentation and communication
?Basic understanding of software development processes, modern architecture paradigms (SOA, multi-tiered, etc.) and programming.
?Experience in developing and delivering technical training a definite plus
?Previous technical or programming background is a huge plus
?Experience with collaboration tools like Wikis, ShrarePoint, CollabNet, etc.
?Ability to clearly and concisely organize a lot of information in very clear and understandable documentation.
