Working in a software development environment, this person is part of the team responsible for creating the online help and technical documentation for the Thomson Reuters flagship product: Thomson Reuters Eikon.
Consult with product and development teams to gather technical information, identify and scope requirements, and set deadlines Facilitate discussions between product and development teams to achieve agreement on documentation content Provide feedback on requirements, specifications, and design documents
The senior technical writer may also have the responsibility of mentoring junior technical writers.
Report on documentation progress using company project tracking tools such as SharePoint sites and CollabNet Communicate regularly with development, product management, project management, and quality assurance teams to facilitate progress Attend product presentations and other training sessions Conduct user task analysis Write and format online help content; develop online help systems Edit content produced by remote teams in Asia and Eastern Europe
Essential Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in technical communication or professional writing with information technology or computer science courses
Required skills:
Native English speaker Three to five years experience in developing end-user documentation Outstanding writing, editing, technical, and organizational skills Good reporting skills Proven proficiency with desktop publishing software Experience using the Information Mapping methodology or other information design principles Experience using screen capture and image editing applications An inquisitive mind, able to analyze financial and technical specifications, and use the software to gain in-depth understanding of the product
Desired skills:
Proficiency in French Proven proficiency with FrameMaker
