Overview: mid level technical position supporting the infrastructure, particularly server administration, user accounts, daily checks, troubleshooting hardware, server deployments, and print queues
Responsibilities: . Systems Management o Maintain, monitor and trouble shoot the ECN OE. o Perform system backups following established schedules and procedures for tape labeling; data integrity and protection; tape retention and rotation to an off-site facility; test tapes for media usability and accuracy; perform data restoration as needed. o Perform system integration activities as new systems or components are added to the ECN. o Install, maintain, trouble shoot and repair, as needed, all hardware and peripherals. (i.e. PCs, servers, modems, switch, routers, printers, scanners, tape library, etc.). o Define policies and thresholds for server monitoring, and troubleshoot/take corrective actions based on system alerts and diagnostic findings.
. User Management and Support Services o Manage network user accounts, mailboxes, user profiles and home directories as required by the ECN National Office. o Follow and enforce the account management policies and procedures established by the ECN National Office. Maintain originals of the Network Access Request forms and periodically audit the forms and the Directory Resource Administrator organizational unit for the respective region. o Record customer incidents and requests using the Help Desk case management system o Provide initial contact, prioritization, trouble shooting, and resolution of technical issues brought to the attention of the IT support team in the Region. o Provide one-on-one desk side coach assistance to end-users on the standard core applications used on the ECN\ network features o Upon request, assist customers in backing up the data they have stored on their local computers prior to re-imaging their desktops
. Data Center Management o Develop and maintain documentation related to the entire infrastructure that supports the local ECN Data Center. o Design, develop, and implement procedures to automate routine operational functions, following DOL-ITC standards and procedures. o Manage, maintain, and document cabling associated with the Data Center infrastructure. o Work with the ECN National Office and/or the Regional Administrator to define, develop, and establish disaster recovery plans that comply with the organization's COOP objectives.
. Configuration Management o Maintain established segregated environments (with appropriate controls) for development, user acceptance, quality assurance and production. o Comply with established configuration and change management procedures prior to, during and after any changes are committed to the OE. o Follow the ECN software/hardware certification process before any software or hardware is added or introduced to the ECN OE o Maintain a software inventory specific to the San Franscisco region, and the associated vendor contact information.
. Print Services o Follow policies and procedure to install, securely configure and test printers and multi-function printing devices o Follow standard operating procedure to install, configure and secure settings and print queues on the print server o Maintain printer drivers updated on the print server o Maintain firmware updated on printer devices
