Job Description
This position is responsible for all aspects of the Canadian daily operation in the areas of Local Area Network (LAN), the Wide Area Network (WAN), the physical and virtual server environment, electronic messaging, network printing, telephony operations, and the Canadian call center. Monitor and support the LAN hardware, software, and operating system products, services and strategies. The position will act as an advocate for Baxter Canada and will liaise with the appropriate global teams to ensure alignment of Baxter Canada infrastructure with corporate IT.
Other responsibilities include:
•Provide complimentary-level support for network (LAN/WAN), messaging, telecommunications and call center related problems and incidents.
•Manage and support the Canadian virtual server environment, and network printing.
•Responsible for performance tuning, capacity planning, proper maintenance of network hardware, file servers, telecom/voicemail and related hardware/applications.
•Participate within Global IT Teams with the following responsibilities:
•Lead Canadian Voice/Data/Email/Print project implementations and support.
•Document and implement strategies for standards on network administration, messaging and voice, but not limited to structure, security, access right levels, LAN auditing, virus scanning, fault tolerance, redundancy, disaster recovery and service levels, ensuring conformance to Global IT policies and standards.
•Communication and knowledge sharing of all infrastructure related activities.
•Infrastructure budget planning and adherence to plan.
•Management of infrastructure-related vendors such as Rogers, Verizon, DVS, HP Canada, etc.
•Mentoring of desktop support technicians toward broadening their knowledge, talents, and new job experiences.
•Responsible for process improvements of new systems, policies and procedures (Network Validation, Global Change Control Process, Departmental SOPs and BOPs) to improve customer satisfaction and service.
Job Requirements
Education Level
Required:
•Bachelor's degree or college diploma in an IT related field. Preferred:
•. in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
•Industry recognized IT certifications would be an asset (e.g. CCNA, MCITP, VCP, etc.) Major Subjects / Specialties

•Networking (LAN/WAN), MS Windows, Servers, Telecom (Cisco IP Phones) Preferred:

•Technical experience managing a large enterprise-wide computer network.

Required:
•Excellent knowledge of LAN/WAN administration, infrastructure and technical support.
•Strong technical knowledge in server operating systems (Windows NT, 2K3, 2K8), virtual server environments, VMWare and Customer Interaction Center.
•Strong background in desktop computing and communications technologies, information systems technologies, customer service, and project management. Preferred:
•Excellent communication, interpersonal & management skills.
•Technical disaster recovery planning and business continuity.
•Budgeting experience.
